Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I was leery of ordering such an expensive product sight unseen, but I knew that following surgery I was going to need some assistance getting around. I went to Safer Wholesale (aka Great Sports)for a Segway-type scooter (they call their version Segscooter).

I almost didn't place the order when during the checkout process I was hit with all types of fees. When I was told by my sales rep that I would be charged an $80 "residential delivery fee" I told him I wasn't interested in placing the order anymore. He said he would take half off the fee. [I placed my order by phone but afterward checked their website, and there is NO explanation of the fees and extra charges, even if you add a product to your basket and go thru the checkout process.]

I received a call from the shipping company who informed me that I would be charged another $75 to take the thing off the truck. Yep, that's right, apparently the $40 I was charged for residential delivery didn't include unloading the item from the truck. Maybe the $40 was to drive the scooter around my neighborhood?

The real fun started when I called Safer Wholesale to try to work this out. Twice I was referred to a woman who would only identify herself as "management." I explained my problem and said that I would not pay an extra $75 on top of the almost $400 I was charged, in total, for delivery. I told her I was cancelling the order. She responded that I couldn't do that since the order was final. I told her I would be contacting my bank since I paid with my Visa debit card. She then told me that I couldn't dispute the charge with my bank, as in I wasn't allowed to dispute the charge with my bank.

I called my bank and starte a dispute to contest the charges. A few days later I got a call from Safer Wholesale (Great Sports). I thought they were going to try to work with me to resolve the situation. Nope. I was transfered to the same "Management" where we went through the same convo as before.

Except this time, when I told her that I had already contacted my bank to initiate the dispute, she told me that if I continued the dispute I would be prosecuted under law. Excuse me? She said that if the bank took any money out of their account that they would prosecute me for theft since all sales are final.  I should have listened to my brother when he warned me against using a company who doesn't stand behind their products (no return policy, even if it breaks), who doesn't let you see what you're buying ahead of time (to be fair, I have no idea of their product's quality since I never received it), and who adds hidden charges and fees, and then threatens customers with legal action who try to complain about it.
