Said They Were An Agent From US DEPT OF FRAUD/level 3 Communications Tried to pry personal info saying I filled out a form last year appearing to be from Publishers Clearinghouse Nevada Although Said Was In Washington,District of Columbia Nationwide
I was contacted by the number, with a man saying he was an agent with US Dept of Fraud. He explained that I filled out a publishers Clearinghouse form - did I remember that...I said NO! I dont recall. He called me by first and last name then read my address to me and wanted me to verify it was correct.
I refused - I asked to speak with his boss to verify that I was really speaking to a government officail. He said hold on, here I Am, I AM THE BOSS-got very rude and called me stupid that I should have heard of this dept before. I told him If he was who he said I was, he wouldnt be so hasty. He finally lost his temper and hung up. I dialed the number back to get a general voicemail with no name and said the mailbox was full....HUGE RED FLAG!!!!
I then went straight to a computer to trace the number. (I had almost been had by a Nigerian Scammer before so I knew about this place already) It came back as LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS-The same place the last scammer called from, this time being out of nevada, not CA. So, Im reporting. He didnt get far and im uncertain where this was going, but i knew it wasnt right. He did already have all of my info tho, so Im a lil worried and put a watch on my identity.
