Well after much arguing, SRP was only willing to reduce the bill by a mere $40 and still charged us an additional $300 deposit.
We switched to their MPower system and most of our deposit was applied toward our outstanding bill. I had tried MPower in the past and didn't like it very much but I am now starting to see the savings! We can monitor our electric useage minute by minute each and every day and this is helping us get a handle on how much we are using. Great for us and great for the environment as well. We used $5.45 in electricity all day yesterday.....
If you are having problems with SRP and your bill SWITCH TO MPOWER!!! You don't have to deal with them at all after that!

I discovered that we actually have a deposit of $333 with these ripoff artists...... I examined their website for information and despite the fact that they have this niffty little "disclaimer" which states they update their website perodically and aren't responsible for its content, I am emailing them with some facts I found. 1. I received my bill and it's dated 3/11/2009. On 3/18/2009 I received a disconnect notice which indicated they would be disconnecting my service on 3/19/2009. PER THEIR WEBSITE...... What happens if my bill payment is late? Regular monthly bills are due upon issue. If we don't receive payment by the close of business on the 21st day after billing, the account becomes delinquent. We will then mail a reminder notice to you, and a late fee of the greater of $4.45 or 2% of the billing amount plus tax will be added to the account. If we do not receive payment by the close of business on the 28th day after billing, we may disconnect your electric service without further notice." Let me do the math on that one....... The bill is dated 3/11/2009 and they are telling me they will disconnect on 3/19/2009.... That doesn't seem to be the 28 days that their website claims I have; am I right? 2. The "Monthly Service Charge" on their site is listed as being $12 (you may want to go check your own electric bills after this!) yet I see a charge for $17.20. From their website....... Price comparison These tables illustrate the Basic Price plans. The green shading in the chart below indicates lower priced kWh. Red shading indicates the higher priced kWh. Summer Summer Peak First 2000 kWh (lower price) 10.19 per kWh 10.73 per kWh Above 2000 kWh (higher price) 10.61 per kWh 11.19 per kWh Monthly Service Charge $12 per month $12 per month Winter First 400 kWh (higher price) 8.79 per kWh Above 400 kWh (lower price) 6.88 per kWh Monthly Service Charge $12 per month" 3. Let's now examine the Residential Service Fee's they list on their website. I am paying a total of $91.89 for the disconnect and reconnect of my service on the same day. Their websites lists that fee as a flat $85 and it's not two seperate charges. That was also a price based on SRP actually having to have someone physically at a location to manually disconnect the service; with the new meters they no longer send someone out. 4. The "Premium Reconnect Charge" as I was told would be $20 and that was to have service restored the same day it was turned off. I am being billed $21.62. Their website doesn't even list this as a seperate charge; it's rolled in to the "disconnect" fee of a flat $85. I will keep you posted on their response to my email.
