Before Sanford Brown came to our area last fall, there was only one school in our state to go for sonography and it is not near the metro area. When I saw the commercial for Sanford Browns sonography program I immediately called to get information and scheduled an appointment with an advisor. I was told that I needed current credits to be eligible for the sonography program and that I should go through the medical assisting program at SB to get them. I was pressured into filling out the application right then and they wanted me to start right away because if I didnt then I wouldnt have the MA program
complete by the time the sonography program started in the fall.
At first I thought there were just a lot of kinks to work out being a brand new school but the longer Im there the more disappointed I am. The quality of students is frightening, many of them have already dropped off, and some are there just for
the financial aid checks. Many of them I would not want touching me or my family in a medical situation. They dont do their homework and fail tests but somehow they get passed. Of course there are a decent amount of us who are there getting good grades and are quality people wondering what we have gotten ourselves into. The communication between the school and students is very poor.
They promise things and never follow through, or constantly changing things with no clear message. Rules apply to some but not to others. We never know what is going on. A few teachers are great, some are not. They are very secretive about the start date for the sonography programs; we have gone to speak to advisors several times and cant get any answers. Now after doing more research and finding these boards I can see its not an isolated problem. Students across the country are having the very same issues. I have just spent all this time and money for prerequisites that are of no value and cannot
transfer. Needless to say I will not be pursuing the sonography program, I have been less than impressed with the way
things have gone so far.

I attended Sanford-Brown College's Medical Coding & Billing program between 2009-2010. I graduated last year at what I assume is the top of the program... although at this school who knows. When I asked my career services rep about not finding work in the field I had been studying for she told me to take a job as a Caregiver, which had absolutely NOTHING to do with the field I was interested in. I have applied at companies like Aurora, Froedert, Medical College, etc and have been told numerous times that they DO NOT hire medical students from Sanford Brown because they DO NOT TRUST THEM. It has been almost a year I have yet to find a job and now have over $20,000 in debt because of them, OH I should also put out there that they said I would have to spend another $900 to become certified and that they didn't offer the certification at that school. Had I known almost this almost 2 years ago, I would've gone to MATC or UW-M and got an actual education.
Someone NEEDS to investigate and shut down this and all these other "chain" schools that are only in it for an easy buck.
Sanford Brown is a joke waste of ti

I have had nothing but problems with that school. I am currently unemployed thanks to that school. I had a job and lost it due to the stupid and yes it was stupid externship they sent me on. I agree 100% with the individual that complained in the original report. If anyone has information for a lawyer please post it because I would like to make that place pay for what they have done.

I am sorry you have had a bad experience with them.
I think you would need to complete the other courses at any other College though.
They might have different names for these courses but it all boils down to the same thing, these are the studies you need to complete to move into that program.Maybe the problem is they did not properly clarify this before enrolling you.
I received my Associates degree in Criminology two years ago through the West Allis campus and I had nothing but a great experience with them.
They were always helpful with any problem I ever had need it be academics or tuition problems.
They also employ some of the top Professors, at least they did for Criminal Justice.
Pat Kennedy and Jenelle Joset to name a few. These two teachers in my opinion were the best.
I felt really privileged to have a chance to be educated by them.
I would contact Mrs. Kennedy directly, she is very supportive and gets problems handled quickly.
Good luck
