SDS has the worst customer service and cancellation policies.  Although we notified them that we were canceling by phone, because we didn't do it in writing within 30 days of our 36 month contract expiring, they are charging us for another ENTIRE YEAR...even though we no longer live in the home and do not use the services.  We already paid for the 36 month contract!  I've searched them and found many people with similar stories of how they were conned by SDS.  Our sales rep was Kevin Allen at 615-373-8330 and I would encourage everyone to research him and SDS before you buy.

I agree whole-heartedly with these complaints. I have had SDS for 4 years, and it was a nightmare canceling their service. There is a "hidden" automatic renewal that they don't even advertise on their website under their FAQs. An excerpt from SDS's website:

Q: What if I decide to cancel my agreement? A: In the agreement, it clearly defines our cancellation policy. Once you have signed the agreement, you are responsible for the entire length of the agreement. 

Clearly means a hard to read form that has been copied multiple times and the yearly auto-renewal is in a smaller font than the rest of the print. The salesmen associated with SDS WILL NOT mention this part of the contract. It is a deliberate attempt to screw consumers out of their money with a legal contract.

SDS is a disreputable company and I will not recommend them to anyone. EVER! PERIOD!!!!

It is true, now you know my name and number.  For those who sign a contract with SDS, be aware that they will publish your personal information.  They might even hire an attorney to scare you and to threaten a law suit (that is what they are doing with me).  I wonder why I had a problem with customer service :). 

For those who want more details, please use the information my sales rep gave you and contact me so I can help you not fall into the same nightmare.  You can also just search the company on-line (I used Kevin's name to help people find information) and you will see the many posts from other people.  I'm sure you can get their personal information also if you simply contact Kevin.  Classy...

PS:  a post about a company's bad policies and customer service is one thing...and I simply warned future customers...a post about the personal information of a customer who provided that information in confidence is another.

Joe and Brittany Nabrotzky, 801-615-3459 or 801-615-3460, entered into an agreement with SDS.  SDS provided and installed a security system in the Nabrotzkys home  at no cost in exchange for a monitoring agreement.  Brittany was informed of cancellation policy as admitted in email  from Joe..Kevin is right, we should have cancelled in writing within 30 days (my spouse called and was told to do it writing and thought she didobviously, either she did not do it or it was not received), we both agree what should have happened.  SDS sent Brittany a link to our website to simplify the cancellation process.  It is easier for Joe to make negative posts than to honor his word.  After all, there were no customer service issues until it was time for Joe to fulfill his written obligation.  THIS PICTURE SEEMS ALL TOO FAMILIAR IN THE WORLD TODAY---NO ACCOUNTABILITY!
