seagate has had so many problems with their free agent drives that they will look for any reason to not honor their warranty. i had a similar experience in that they got it back and said that it had been "opened". i dont know how anyone would open a freeagent but that's what they said simply to avoid warranty replacement. here's my suggestion. wait untill there is a trade show where they will be present. then, in front of their booth. smash the free agent to bits in front of their booth. part 2 is to never again buy anything from seagate. in the industry, whenever a company starts having warranty problems that's a sign that there is trouble ahead for them. professionals have to have dependable warranty to resell products.
