See Clearly Method Tried to get more info, but they tried to hardsell the $350 product ripoff Internet
As a career computer user, my eyes have suffered from many years of short distance CRT reading. Now that I'm 40, my near vision is also creeping away from me. In an effort to find some corrective method other than glasses or surgery, I have begun to collect information on alternative forms of vision correction.
I'm sure we have all heard the radio ads for the "See Clearly Method". They advertise radical improvements in all forms of vision problems. The company also has a website which further enhances the claims, but seem to provide no information on the process. Calling the 800 number only results in a hard sell where the operator pushes you to get the "30 day free trial".
Since I would never give ANY company my credit card info for a "trial", I decided to do some research.
The See Clearly Method", is mostly an update on an vision therapy method developed many years ago by William Bates. Bates was an actual MD at the turn of the century who believed many vision problems could be cured by simple exercises. His full book is available online.
While I don't doubt that Bates was a true MD, his method is 100 years old, and mostly unproven. But, please read the book yourself, and make your own opinions.
This method has been updated every few years, and it always seems to pop up for time to time. While vision therapy can be used as treatment in some cases, it has no documented evidence to substantiate it's claims at curing near/far sightedness. At best, it's a good relief for issues resulting from eyestrain.
While I have no issues with companies such as VIT (the See Clearly Method people), I do have issues with the way this product is marketed. Apparently, so does the state of Iowa

In summary, do your research, talk to a qualified doctor, and don't fall for scams. If you must spend the $350, then at least find a good charity.
