Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I started doing business with SEF Publishers back in Sept. At first, I felt everything was going ok till this month. I received charges three times. I have yet to recieve any of the magazine I have chosen.

I pulled out my paperwork and went to the web address listed to contact them about what was going on and low and behold, it no longer exists. Now, the the red flags are not only waving but they are sending flares. I have been doing business with magazing publishers for years and have always been satisfied with my service.

I went looking on the interent for a phone number and the search led me here. I saw a report filed by someone else with a phone number, but a different street address.

So, I call the number regardless to see what happened and you will not believe what happened next.

The customer service rep answers the phone with SEF and when I ask her if this is the same company at which I give her the address that I have. She proceeds to ask who I am. Oooo OK, I no longer need flags or flares, I now know that something is amiss. I mean really why ask that!

So I tell ehr that I am a customer and what my problem is, multiple charges in one month, no magazines, and web address is no longer in existence. She responses were such in order, they had a computer glitch, it takes time and that they sent other magazines in lieu of the ones I wanted to compensate for the wait but that I am being penalized for the length of time passing, and they forgot to give the web hosting service thier new expiration date on the comapny credit card.

She requested that I send a statement showing that I was overbilled and they would either extend my subscription or refund me (my choice) and hoping the magazine they were sending were appreciated until the order for mine could be filled. She gave me her email address to send the statement.

She was not able to access the computer system becuase she was on a back-up system due to it being after hours. Ummm, I have worked customer service many of times and maybe I am wrong, but we never had a back-up service that could not access our customer database. She said that if I still wanted she could put in my request for a cancellation to management tomorrow.

Why would my request have to go to management when I never signed any contract? And over the phone I never authorized anything for a definitive period of time. I never do that, I don't do contracts or commitments, because you never know what could happen.

So, I will have to wait and see if they actually refund me. I am contacting my bank in the morning to stop authorization of thier charges it's worth the fees. And we will see if I ever get the magazines I paid for, because I am not counting on the free ones which unfortunately are the ones I really wanted, but I want what I paid for.

Well after many harassing calls and letters. I received a letter in the mail threating to take me to court. I called the lady listed in the letter. She gave me some speech about how she didn't want to see me have to pay all those fees and that she was going to contact some higher up about my situtation. I told her everything that had happened to me and what I was told. Unfortunately nothing was in writing on either part. When she called me back, she told me that they were going to allow me to cancel my account and avoid court as long as I paid a cancellation fee. I would continue to get magazines for the time period I was paid for and that she would send me the gift certificate for the online shopping that I was promised. I got this in writing. Only thing is that they did not put in the letter about the gift certificate, but they did say my cancellation fee would be my last and final dealings with the company. I paid the fee, still get the magazines I dont want, but never got the gift certificate. She called me after the transaction and told me she was sending me a letter saying I was paid in full along with a list of magazines and the customer service number so that I could change magazines during the time I was paid for. I told her I still didnt get the gift certificate. I know I wont see that, but at least I am done with them and never have to deal with them EVER. I will stick to paying retail on any magazine I want from now on. I also check ripoff report before doing any business with anyone.
