Michael, Immediately send a DEBT VALIDATION request to each party involved, and get a statement from Wells fargo saying they did not sell the account. STAY OFF THE PHONE!!! In this letter clearly dispute the debt, and demand to see the original contract, as well as a complete account history and itemization of charges. Also demand proof that they own the debt including how much they paid for it, as well as that they are licensed to do debt collections in you state. Now, send this letter by certified mail, return reciept requested. Be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself, and keep a copy for your records. this is very important. This proves what you sent, and who recieved it. If they fail to provide all of the documentation, you have grounds for a good lawsuit. A slam dunk! As well as criminal fraud charges for the bogus lien on your property. Also, file bar association complaints against any lawyers involved.
