If it seems too good to be true, it probably is! Against my better judgement, I decided to do business with this company. They had the best price on a "new" 50" lcd television I wanted. They beat everyone's price by more than $500--should have been clue number 1. I thought that I had done really good research on this company, but obviously it wasn't enough. So I placed my order online...following a thorough reading of all their policies. If you read carefully, they clearly state that some items are non-refundable. While other parts of their policy are so poorly written that you can't really understand what the policy is--clue number 2. 3 days after placing my order and not hearing from anyone, I called the company to inquire on the status of my order. Horrible experience. First, they tell me I had only placed the previous night. Second, I was told that I had to call to confirm the online order...never read that anywhere. Third, when I requested information on when the television would ship, they could not tell me.
They did say it typically takes 1-2 weeks, but that wasn't guaranteed--clue number 3. As part of my order they included a promo pack which included a hdmi cable, power strip, and cleaning kit. They tried repeatedly to sell me on an extended warranty at an astronimical cost, but I declined. Still, with all these clues and warning signs, I decided to proceed forward. I was told that I would be contacted by the shipping company within 1 week to give me details on when to expect my shipment. After 12 days of no contact from anyone, I called shopdigitalonline to inquire on my order. I got a guy who was totally rude and disrespectful. Paul first told me to just sit back and wait for someone to call because everyone's really busy. When I didn't accept that answer, he told me to just "chill out" and not be so concerned. He continued to tell me that I should just wait for another week or so and my tv would show up. I asked to speak to a manager. He put some guy on who told me that I was overreacting and called me a moron, among other things.
When I requested a refund of my money he told me I couldn't get one because supposedly the television had already shipped. Well, a week and a half later I got a call from the shipping company. I received the television. Based on the packaging, I thought that maybe this television was a refurbished model, so I contacted the manufacturer. Sure thing...refurbished. (When I went back to the site, I noticed that none of their descriptions say "new" or "refurbished".) Found out that shopdigitalonline is NOT an authorized reseller so the manufacturer's warranty doesn't apply. I contacted shopdigitalonline and requested a RMA number to return this refurbished television that was sold as "new". They refused at first but eventually gave me one--after threatening to call my lawyer and contacting my credit card company. I had to ship it to them at my cost. Good thing I asked for the shipping address and cross checked it against the original shipping label and address online. The one they gave me on the phone was grossly incorrect. I even got a different address when I called back, disguised as another customer, and asked for the return shipping address. The second time I got the correct address. It took almost a month's time and several calls before they processed my return after the television had been received.
Looking back on this situation, I feel like there were definately warning signs and things I could have and should have done better. But the long and short of it is that shopdigitalonline is a ripoff company. Avoid these people unless you're looking to either get an inferior product or just merely want to flush your money down the drain.
