Bought somes cameras on Shopgoodwill. Paid the shipping and handling  along with the item cost, then upon receipt of the cameras noticed that the shipping weights on the USPS mailing label was less than what I was charged for, ex Label 1 pound , paid for 2 pounds. Best to check all your labels upon receipt of your items and see what the real shipping weight was. And also wonder about the insurance charges, hard to check this to see if this was actualy paid for by the shipper.

I work for a regional Goodwill entity in the e-Business Department. My location sells items on Amazon, eBay, and the shopgoodwill.com website. Each item is weighed during the listing, and knowing that USPS rounds up, the person listing the item generally adds an extra pound to account for the weight of the box and packing materials. Example, camera may weigh 14 ounces, but one it is packed in a box with bubble wrap and packing peanuts and tape, it may weigh 17 ounces. If it did weigh 17 ounces, USPS will charge the 2lb rate. It may turn out that the item weighs 15.9 ounces and therefore we are charged for 1lb.

I can say that at my location, we ALWAYS grant refunds when shipping overages occur and the customer requests it. Our location is one of the smallest selling on the SGW site, and we ship out 150-200 packages each day. We have six people on our staff, and only two of the six do shipping. I mention this because you have to realize that due to volume, we can't double check every package to make sure no one was overcharged. However, if you notice that you are overcharged, you should contact the ACTUAL SELLER DIRECTLY and request that you be refunded for the difference.

I noticed that you said you contacted the site administers in California with your complaints. I wanted to let everyone know that when you do that, the email you sent is just forwarded to the actual seller location. To reiterate, complaints are not directly addressed by the site administrators-- they are forwarded to the selling location. So if you have a problem and you complain to them, it will get forwarded to the correct location, and then possibly lost in spam land because it is a forwarded message. Thus, the best way to deal with any issues or complaints is to contact the seller you purchased the item from directly. The seller contact info is listed in the item listing, or in the fine print at the bottom. There is also a link in every listing that says "CONTACT THE SELLER" ... If you use this link, you will be sending a link directly to the location selling the item, which will usually be fielded by a manager or person who is actually able to help you...

Follow this advice, and I believe you will have a rip-off free SGW experience.
