Kansas City,#2Consumer Suggestion
Sat, July 17, 2004
My wife and I bought a 1999 Saturn from Silver Eagle, and had a good buying experience. We checked out several cars on 3 visits, and never felt pressured. We were encouraged to take each car all day to try, and to have a mechanic evaluate. The first one we checked was unacceptable, and we were given no hassles upon its return. My suggestion is "buyer beware", and check things out before committing. The sales staff was very honest in that they are a "turnover" lot, they just buy what they think will sell, then sell them. They don't know a lot about the cars; the owner makes most money financing (be VERY clear on the terms!), but we weren't pressured to either. In fact, we got better pricing because we had the cash. I would never buy a used vehicle without checking it out professionally. They may have had high-pressure salespeople before, but I think they've fixed the problem.
