Skin Deep Tattoo Takes advanatage of Maui Visitors Lahaina Maui Hawaii
They used to be reputable and trustworthy. Not any longer. Apparently new ownership has changed the attiudes of the tattoo artists there. It's now OK to steal deposits from customers.
Every year for the past 10 years I have visited Maui at least once per year - sometimes twice - and get a new tattoo. This year in February I had the Hawaiin Islands tattooed on my leg by Jason at Skin Deep Tattoo. I have had at least half of a dozen tattoos from Skin Deep over the last 8 or 9 years.
On August 1 2008 I was scheduled to have Jason do some more minor art work. I was running a bit late from dinner so I call Skin Deep at 6:35 PM to tell them I was late for my 6:30 PM appointment but I would be there in 5 minutes. I arrived at 6:40 and Jason was Tatooing someone else. The receptionist (who was caught in the middle of this fiasco) was appologetic when she told me that Jason would not have time to do my tattoo - which took all of 15 minutes at another shop - and that because I was late I could not have my deposit back. She also mentioned that Jason started tattooing the other customer 5 minutues before my appointment.
After a few minutes of arguing with the poor receptionist stuck in the middle I managed to get half my deposit back. Meanwhile Jason and Skin Deep Tatoo in Lahaina Maui lost a 9 year loyal customer over a 10 minute $20 dispute.
The moral of the story is that Skin Deep Tattoo is NOT the Skin Deeo Tattoo of the past. They do not care about their customers and the really good Tattoo artists from Skin Deep left

As a frequent visitor to Lahaina Maui (over the last few years) we have checked out many of the tattoo shops. This year we were on our honeymoon and wanted a memory that would last a life time. Upon our arrival at Skin Deep Tattoo we were greeted with open arms. Any and all questions were answered and not forced upon us. There was expert advise and support in the design process. Once the design was chosen a time and deposit was made. With the short time remaining, a time was agreed apon - the deposit was to be taken from the final payment. Even with two different appointments the final payment was not taken until the job was complete. Skin Deep Tattoo was a clean, professional, friendly and confortable enviroment that made the experience fun, comfortable and relaxed. Our artist 'Tony' took each design to the next level - taking multiple designs into account. Both of the tattoo's that were given are of the highest quality. If you make an appointment with any business you need to keep the appointment as established. Skin Deep Tattoo has every guest sign an appointment agreement when the appointment is confimed. At that time the deposit is taken and everyone knows the requirments. If you set a date and time with your doctor, shrink, attorny, etc. do they need to honor the appointment on a late arrival? Normally, you would be pushed until time is available or you would need to make another appointment.
