On Sept. 8 and 29, 2004 I made complaints to the local Better Business Bureau (BBB) regarding the items outlined in this report. In reply to my detailed complaint I received on Dec. 6, 2004 a letter from Skyview Sunrooms and Renovations' legal representative stating that: In this matter Skyview disagrees with your assertions and advises that it performed as per the contract entered into. Skyview has instructed me to advise you that it takes extreme exception to the allegation that payment was extorted'. Such assertions are a direct assault on Skyview's business reputation and should such allegations continue to be made in a public forum (other than in litigation) which results in damages to Mr. Dillon's and Skyview's reputation action will be taken. You are put on notice that a continuance of such scandalous and outrageous assertions may well be actionable and we would ask you to retract such assertions and, cease and desist in the future with respect to same. I do not consider this a satisfactory response and have asked Skyview Sunrooms and Renovations to provide details to justify their position as well as an explanation and appropriate characterization of Mr. Dillon behaviour through a letter to the BBB. As a further response to the letter from their attorney, I feel it necessary to update this report as requested. I wish to give the readers the opportunity to make their own judgement by providing details of Mr. Dillon's actions in describing my account of the event concerned: Within minutes of finishing his work on the evening of Sept. 3, 2004, Mr. Dillon was demanding full (final) payment. We offered payment of roughly 2/3 of balance owing and explained that we wanted the opportunity to inspect the work. We also pointed out that there were still some outstanding issues that had not yet been resolved to our satisfaction. Mr. Dillon reacted in a hostile and confrontation manner, shouting loudly enough to be audible to the neighbors. Further attempts by my husband and myself to explain that we had not yet satisfied ourselves that the work was 100% completed only resulted in more hostility. Mr. Dillon became threatening by repeatedly shouting: "I am not leaving until I have full payment". We became frighten of what Mr. Dillon may do next (I was holding my 22-month old son in my arms during one of these exchanges). My husband and I both felt intimidated and threatened by Mr. Dillon's actions and believed that we had no other choice but to pay the full balance owing for fear of our family's well-being. I will further update this report at such time as Mr. Dillon provides his own account of the events, or an explanation and characterization of his behaviour.
