In December I purchased a Sealy South Court Posturpedic Custom Firm mattress from Sleepy's after shopping in their 9th Avenue store (several times).  Upon delivery it did not feel remotely like it did in the store, but I was leaving for a month out of the country and didn't contact Sleepy's until my return, and a couple of weeks of trying to get used to it.  But as it indented so much that it was hard to turn on, and didn't quickly go back to form, this "Firm" mattress remained uncomfortable.

I called Sleepy's customer service and was told that since 30 days had passed there was nothing they could do, that they would not send an inspector to see what was wrong, and that I couldn't pay an exchange fee and get a more suitable mattress.  Since this one did not feel like it did in the store, I believe that something is very wrong with it and that Sealy's should have a responsibility to help towards a satisfactory resolution.  I've since been diagnosed as needing spinal fusion surgery, am in pain from this badly supporting mattress, and hope that this report will reach people within Sleepy's who might help me.

Thank you Ripoff Report and Ripoff Report community.  Thanks to this site, Sleepy's quickly took action on my problem, got an inspector here faster than I could have imagined possible, issued a credit for the cost of my defective mattress towards any other model I wanted, and quickly delivered my new bed.  I am happy.  My resolution would not have been possible without this web site.

It's more complicated

It's more complicated than my buying a mattress and then deciding too late that I'm not happy with it, and I probably didn't go into enough detail on why I think Sleepy's should solve my problem.

If it were just me deciding that I was not happy with my mattress after the exchange period expired, you would be right in saying that Sleepy's had no oblligation, though I would still hope they would work with me and make me happy.

But there's more.

Before purchasing the mattress I had visited and spent time on this mattress three times.  I knew what it felt like.  My wife knew what it felt like.  Finally the price was right and we bought it.  The delivered mattress never felt like the one in the store.  I had to leave the country a few days after the purchase.  My first thought was that I would adjust to this different-feeling mattress, and would handle things, if needed, when I returned to the U.S.

Upon my return this was not the case.  The mattress, with a foam top, was slow to depress and slower to rebound.  I toss in my sleep, and every time I would move, it was like going up an incline, from the depressed to the firm parts.  Plus the side of the bed I sleep on became softer, and moving across the mattress meant going over very different levels of firmness.

Why the rip-off report filing?  Something was deceptive, whether intentional or not, and Sleepy's would not help reslove it.  They did not deliver a mattress that felt the same as the one they sold me in the store.  I've even gone back to the Sleepy's and spent time on their sample again. Customer service would not help, and they wouldn't even send an inspector I felt abandoned by Sleepy's after spending more than twelve hundred dollars with them.

I don't feel I'm being unreasonable when I say that Sleepy's sold me a defective product and won't make things right.  At least they haven't as of now.

Sorry for your back problems but were is the rip off here, you bought the mattress, it is the same one that you tested in the store. You know you have a 30 day return policy the 30 days passed before you called them to complain and they wont help you. They are only standing by their policy that they have in place, again were is the rip off or scam, the 30 days came and went.People you have to honor the stores return policy when you by something there, if you dont like there return or exchange policy by the product from somewhere else. Stop crying.
