I'm not usually the type to go to this extent to voice my opinion about a bad experience with a company, but my experience with South Florida Real Estate Rental Inc. has pushed me to the limit.




I made the huge mistake of renting one of the rooms in this complex (www.miamibeachaffordablerentals.com). The pictures on the website look great. The owner (Adam Dash) seemed nice enough, and even as I visited the unit I chose, everything seemed to be in order. So I paid what was asked plus the deposit.





It wasn't past one week when I realized I made a huge mistake. NOTHING IN THE UNIT WORKED! 





The jacuzzi tub, the electrical outlets, the stove burners, the water stopper in the tub, the shower faucet in the kitchen, the bedroom window blinds didn't shut, the remote control didn't work, the toilet leaked, the electric gate for the parking area worked only half the time (the rest of the time you had to get out of the car and nudge it so it would open or close all the way. This btw, caused for me to once back up and graze the gate with my back bumper and scratch my car), the AC unit was in a closet in the bedroom and literally sounded like a small jet about to take off...Im sure there was more, but I forget. In short, the place was a well decorated dump.





Furthermore, the unit stunk unless you had the AC blasting (which is why I didn't notice it when I did the walkthrough)





There's no way Mr Dash did not known about at least some of the things wrong with that unit yet he never said a word and took my money with a smile.





Worst is when I later brought some of those issues to his attention, he rudely blew me off and told me to only call him for emergencies. For all other issues, I should speak to the maintenance guy (who hardly speaks english) who apparently didn't care much about a leaking toilet because he made me wait a whole day saying he would come look at it and never showed up.





At this point I exercised my tolerance for 2 more weeks and then decided to stay with a friend because I just couldn't stay there anymore.





I only looked forward to getting all my stuff out of there by the end of the month that I paid for, get my deposit back, pay the electric bill and never have to see these people or that place again.





I was overly optimistic.





When time came to give me back my deposit, he told me that was deducting just under $100 for the electric! $100??? I was in the place 3 weeks! When I asked him to show me proof (a bill, a meter reading, anything...), he only had excuses that were short of "My dog ate it". 





I refused the check and told him I would not accept it until you can show me proof of this electric bill. He promised to send it to me...I never received anything. 





One month went by and I called to get an update on my check and/or the electric bill and the response I got was that he will not be returning my deposit at all because his parking gate is bent and broken and he blames me for having caused the damage when I scratched my car against it...7 WEEKS AGO!





That was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I will be suing him because I have witnesses and pictures that prove my innocence. But more importantly, I want it to be known what kind of person Mr Adam Dash is and the way he conducts his company.
