Southern Showcase Housing, southern showcase will do a bait and switch on you!!! Asheboro North Carolina
We were excited about getting a new home from Southern Showcase Housing. We had ordered a 4 bedroom home from them and they were very helpful to start. We got the home and signed a form giving them permission to start building a home for us. The form said that if we tried t oback out we would owe them $5,000. Not a problem I thought. Well they got the home to the land and set it up for us. First problem is that the driveway was going on the wrong side of where we wanted it.
Apparently they new this and dodn't inform us of that. We shrugged it off and thought we were able to work around it. In the mean time Andy Mckeon(General Manager) wanted us to close before we looked at the home. This didn't sit well with me. So me and my family drove out to where the house was sitting and was able to go inside and look at it. We noticed the house was 4 feet smaller in the dining room that was on the floorplan. There excuse was that when they put the attic in it took away tha that space. I understand that but don't you think they could inform us that or at least put it on the floorplans to show that.
The last thing that finally broke the camels back is that they said that there was going to be a walk-in closet. Needless to say there was not. There rebuttle on that is that they never said that. Also the kitchen was not as big as the what they said it would be. Needless to say we were to close today at 4:30pm, but that os not going to happen. Short and sweet to the story is they will show you these models on the lot and say you will give you this and that and they don't. They expect you to except that. Please give me any help or guidance on this sticky situation we are in.

How dumb do you feel now, Chris?!?! Southern Showcase and prospect mortgage are crooks and its being prooved in a court of law!! Your bosses have already been convicted, one for fleeing and destroying evidence in a federal investigation. And guess what?!?! It's all over the news! You guys did a lot if bad stuff to a lot of people. I was smart, I got my own attorney. my family never lived a single day in that chemical infested house your company built us. Within a year, we had purchased another home, a REAL home!
if you've had dealings with this company, contact the attorney generals office! There is an open investigation.

I have worked for Southern Showcase for over 5 years. In that time we have always done everything in our power to be as forthcoming and upfront with our customers as possible. There are a lot of details to cover when building a new home for someone and some of the details seam to be commons sense to us over time. Mr. L signed an power of atterney over to his wife to handle the home buying. Mrs. L, who used to sale real estate, Went over the floor and SHE decided to add walk up stairs which took up 4 ft of floor space. These stairs were clearly visible on the blue print that she signed for. All of the room dimisions are printed clearly on the plans and spec. We actually discused adding 4 ft to the home to make up the differance. The problem was the building lot THEY picked out would not fit a larger home. Unfortunatly the driveway was out of our control, The county decides where the driveway, well, septic. etc are placed. Our construction MGR, argued with the county with no luck. And no, unfortunatly, not everyone can buy a home just like the ones we have on display. Just like if I go to a car lot I may not be able to get the car of my dreams with-in the payment range that I give the sales rep. I hope that Mr. and Mrs. L and there two great kids plus the one on the way have many great years in there new home. They closed on 5/14.
