Giving a kid a cell phone is like giving a kid a gun. Some kids are responsible, some kids aren't. You stated youself, you were suspended three times because your son went over your minutes. Having a family plan isn't gonna help you cause all your son's friends aren't on your family plan and with text messaging thrown it, you're out of luck. I should know, with seven grand kids. My solution was one of those monthly programs, at a flat rate of $34 per month, unlimited usage, unlimited long distance, unlimited text msg. My granddaughter works at my shop to pay her bill each month. No work, no cell phone. She ran up a $275 cell phone bill on one of those other plans. I hate sprint, but put blame where blame is due.

A credit limit is imposed for customers who are credit challenged. That being said, if you incur charges above this you WILL be hotlined (suspended) I suggest those who decide to allow their child a cell phone to closely monitor the usage, and consider either a Vision package (the internet) or an internet block. The same goes for texting. Sprint makes it very easy to check your usage from your phone or online at sprint.com. It is the parents responsibilty to keep an eye on the usage if they choose to give a CHILD a phone. You can not get upset with the company because YOUR child incur charges or went over your minutes. I would suggest asking a lot of questions prior to activating. If you use it, you will be charged. Ignorance is no excuse.
