I am one of those people who actually go through my bank statement. I have been with Standard Federal Bank for years and still am, they have been the lesser of many evils, I guess.
Anyways, there were two checks on my statement with the same number, one of them I wrote, the other for $70, I do not know where it came from. I walked into the branch on Cork and Lovers Ln. in Kalamazoo MI and went to the first person I saw, a loan officer. He was more concerned that I had written the check and didn't remember it.
Weeks went by and I didn't hear anything. The $70 was still missing from my account, that is a great deal of money to me. The loan officer said they couldn't find the check. I said it clearly wasn't my check, if it was they would have found it, so please give me my money back.
Weeks went by again and nothing was done about it. Finally I managed to get the address of the president of Standard Federal and wrote him a scathing letter. Then the loan officer called me and tried to make me feel guilty for getting him in trouble. He said that my money was returned to my account in such a way it sounded like I was robbing them. I mentioned that there clearly was some fraud going on but he didn't seem to care.

Tara, I hate that you were treated so unprofessionally. Remember, Banks are for the Big Guys;ie. Corporations, Large businesses and alike. However, Credit Union's are for the little guys.I am sure there is a Credit Union near you that would treat you much better. You would not believe how many(members) come here* I work loss prevention for my local Credit Union* from Stanard Fed, Bank One, Charter One and National City, just like you , they thought they weren't treated very nicely. You should not be treated according to age, account balance and or account history. You are more than just a number. Come over to the Credit Union side. See what appreciation is all about.
