I booked with this company to move my 1 bedroom apartment from MD to DE (less than 40 miles).  A quote was provided through the website/email with a Paige McGarry ("Operations VP").  They claim to operate up and down the east coast. Services to incliude: -Free packing -Unlimited number of bedrooms -15 to 30 foot truck -3 to 4 movers -Flat rate -3 hours For a price of $399.

My reservation was made for 10am-2pm on Monday, August 27th.  I called at 10:30am and was told that my appointment window was actually between 2pm-5pm.  Ultimately I got the run-around all day.  No one reached out to me or made me aware of what was happening. FINALLY the "movers" showed up at 7pm.  It took them over 2.5 hours to loan my belongings, as well as another 2.5 hours to unload it once we reached the destination.  My belongings were damaged, my mattress is filthy!!!  After loading the truck at my old apartment, I called the "supervisor" - a "J"... (which I now know is Jabre).  He was not helpful at all the entire time and even tried to intimidate me and make this whole situation out to be my fault. I communicated that I expected to receive a phone call from a supervisor the next morning by 10am.  No one called and when I did call I reached out to them an no answer.  I left a voicemail and have had no futher contact from this "business".  After further review it is clear that this is a scam.  The "movers" had no idea what they were doing and clearly were inexperienced.  I had to tell them what to do - which is uhm literally pick up stuff and load the truck.  Not rocket science.  Disgraceful!  They showed up with nothing to pack my place nor anything to wrap or protect my furniture - which was a services INCLUDED.  I was also charged more than what I agreed to.  My credit card was also charged 2 days prior to the services being complete without my authorization.

Services to incliude: -Free packing -Unlimited number of bedrooms -15 to 30 foot truck -3 to 4 movers -Flat rate -3 hours For a price of $399.   OK, let's put a little reality into the situation, shall we?  The going rate for 3 movers is $139 per hour with a 4 hour minimum, plus drive time of about 1 hour at 2X rate.  That would make the total price about $840, more or less with any other mover.  But it gets better.  Technically, this was an interstate move, which likely would have been governed by an interstate tariff.  Your move quoted as an interstate move would have been in excess of $1000.  As the title says, you got off cheap.

He was not helpful at all the entire time and even tried to intimidate me and make this whole situation out to be my fault.  Could be your fault.  On moves in which you are billed flat rate, the movers are incentivized to perform your move as quick as possible.  There is nothing the mover can really do to rip you off.  On top of it, if you paid less than $840, the mover lost money doing your move.  As I said, you got off cheap.

I left a voicemail and have had no futher contact from this "business".  After further review it is clear that this is a scam.  I'm not surprised they don't want to speak with you.  I'm 100% sure they feel like they've been scammed.  The move cost them far more than whatever you paid.  In a mover's busy season, taking a loss on any move is a disaster for that company.  You got off cheap.

I had to tell them what to do - which is uhm literally pick up stuff and load the truck.  Not rocket science.  Actually, that's the reason you suffered damage.  Packing a truck correctly is closer to rocket science than you think.

It's not often I tell consumers they should simply move themselves and not bother with a moving company.  You would be one of those people.  Moving is not inexpensive.  It is labor intensive, there is no automation, and no 2 moves are alike.  If the pricing related to a move is done on a flat rate basis, choose another mover.
