Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We recieved a notice (the entire park actully) that they were closing our mobile home park and it was bought by Saylor and Sons developing and they are going to build homes right where ours was sitting that we could not ever afford ($315 to $520 thousand dollar homes) The "New" owners were kind enough (if you want to say kind) to give us until October 1st to move our house out.

Well, it was now May. So we franctically went around looking for a new park since there was going to be 380 trailers needed new homes we knew there were not going to be many left. We were lucky and found a park in the vacinity and then we had to find a responable mobile home moving company to move our house. Well, the word was out and the companies were just swamped and so were their pockets. We called STI and they were so "helpful" on the "phone". We ended up selecting them.

They called us a day early and wanted to get started getting the mobile home ready to move. Of course after we paid them $1500 and that was only half of the fee. They came out and called us to tell us that we had a broken axle. So calling around we were able to get a welder out to repair it - of course the mobile home movers did not tell us the axle was wrapped up inside the frame and the house needed to be jacked up to rotate it out so the welder could weld it in place. We ended up calling STI and they told us to "drive" around the park look around for thier guys so they can jack-up the house (since they were not answering their cell phone humm..)

Well, after the third time around the park I called them again and she said I think there are over at the other park so I drive 15 mins to the other park and still nobody. In the meantime we were paying this welder $100 an hour and it's already been an hour and a half. Ended up that the office got the parks mixed up and they were much further away. The guy from STI showed up an hour later and he was so rude.

It is now 10:30 am and STI said the "house" would be on the road by 10:00 am, we do not see that happing anytime soon. They have not even cut the strapping or put the rear lights on (that we supplied) or disconnected the water or the piping or even connected the hitch! We helped them out and removed all the skirting and the deck! Finally at 5:00pm the house was actually moving!!! They got up to the front of the park and stopped! We turned around and asked if everything was ok? The driver smiled and said no we are taking a break. WHAT!! He laughed and said it a law in Virginia you can't take a mobile home on the highway during rush hour!!

OMGosh. I could not beleave what was coming out of his mouth. So, our house sat there til 6:30 pm. We got the house moved to the new park and it was going on 8:00 pm. We waited two days and they still did not come out to put in the plumbing of course my husband called them to find out why it was not done yet, than they showed up. They worked on it for two days and after the second day they left and we did not hear from them again and they never finished! My husband called STI again and they asked my husband to finish it for them!!!!! He told them no and that is what you got $3000 to do!! They also, were responsible for moving our A/C unit and they did but put it on it's side. It ended up blowing up and it was only a 6 year old unit! Our house is now sinking in the middle because the footers are set wrong - do not use STI they ARE a ripoff!!!

Obviously Just A Smear Attempt To Conceal The Truth.

#2Consumer Suggestion

Sun, August 22, 2004

Hey there Everyone, I hope that this rebuttal finds each and every one of you in good spirit and health. If you have conducted a google search and saw a website entitled ripoffreport is a rip off under the sponsored links, disregard it. It is nothing but trash. How the f#ck can a website, that charges zero money to the consumers be cosidered a rippoff? Libel? The truth is an absolute defense against libel. The term libel is overly used nowadays and is well to freely thrown around. Libel is written or printed defamation, so untrue in nature as to intentionally cause harm to ones reputation. Nonsense! What could be ten times more harmful to a business or even fatal, is when a business can't defend itself from the truth, but instead attempts to smear any and all legitimate avenues for consumers to post their grievances. It is not against the law to share ones bad shopping experience, dining experience, movie experience, etc, etc. Never has been, never will! F#CK LIBEL!! It seems to have come to a ridiculous point in time, where fraudulent businesses, that can't prove complaints against them false or to the contrary in some way shape or form, so freely and frivilously use the term "libel" to intimidate consumers. If a business is conducting a legitimate operation and in a sound and ethical manner, it would have absolutely no problem coming into the public eye and addressing and rectifying all consumer related issues. What the BBB? Don't make me laugh! I may very well $h!t my pants! If what is said about Ed Magedson is true, it would be absolutely no different than what the f#ck!ng BBB has been doing to businesses for years, therefore I condone his practice and I'm sure many others do as well. Hypocrites!! Funny how the tide has shifted. I am willing to bet, that it now doesn't feel so good for many fraudulent businesses, to have to pay a fee to an "entity" when it's not to their advantage. One good thing that remains for legitimate businesses however, is that they won't ever have to pay fees to anyone. Actions tend to speak out for ones reputation. The BBB charges businesses a fee (membership) to be "recognized" and or a part of their "entity". This pool of businesses "entity", gives consumers a false impression, by blatantly misleading the public, and causing consumers to believe, that a business or businesses are legitimate or more established than non-members of the BBB. Being a member of the BBB means absolutely didley!Memberships are paid for! How is this beneficial to consumers? The plaques that are issued to their members, are store bought and literally means nothing! The entire business is a sham, that actually does more harm to consumers than good. The BBB's policies and procedures actually protects bad businesses as opposed to consumers, even though for many years, they have lead the public to believe, that their intentions were otherwise. The stipulation that protects the BBB is "we do not endorse the claims of". This stipulation alone, releases them from any and all responsibility, accountability and liability. The fact that such a stipulation even exists, tells me, that the BBB are openly admitting that their entity is literally of zero use. Businesses that are unwilling and unable to do so, and finds this very simple task a problem in any way, would UNDRSTANDABLY also find the good deeds of this website and it's creator a threat to their business. Until next time, take care everyone cause I care, Aloha from the beautiful island of Hawaii and God Bless. P.S. Remember: The rippoff report has never charged a fee to post, therefore can in no way ever be considered a rip off. Always be leary of any and all companies, that find free speech a threat and attempts to impose on everyones right to it.
