ComplaintOn February 18, 2015 my husband and I went to a Summers N Company Travel seminar, hosted by Jamie & Eileen at Silverthorn Country Club. We love to cruise, but were not interested in trips abroad. We were told they could save us 50% on cruises and a big savings in airline tickets. One that we were really interested in was the $98 flight to Las Vegas. We have friend there and go every year. Out of all the people there, we were the only ones that were interested in buying the travel membership at $5194, paid on the spot. We were to get a call for an appointment to review our benefits and activate our account. It took over a week before they called to set us up, long after the 3 days we had to cancel.
We checked out a few trips and a cruise for the prices we could get on our own and took them with us. Bob Hayward, the owner, met us and when we ask about the $98 flight to Vegas, he said that would only be if there was a charter flight that was not filled and we could get to the right airport to take it. They had no specials on flights at all. As for the cruises, he checked on the one we had researched and he could save us $714 on a $5597 cruise. A far cry from 50% off. We told Bob we wanted a refund, that we were mislead by his seminar people. He insisted we were not and refused to return our money. We are 76 and 72 years old and I am having heart problems and may be getting a pacemaker in the near future. Our traveling is put on hold indefinitely.
This stress is not helping matters. After many phone calls to Bob, he said the parent company, SaveOn in Carlsbad CA, would refund half the money, then the next time we talked he said he never told us that, but would refund $1000 and we could stay members. We do not want to be members of something that we can't use and were mislead about. I have written to the parent company and called many times with no answer from anyone.
