SUPER 8 Ripoff Best Available Rate Or First Night FREE Not Honoured Internet
Super 8 Hotels advertise that they will give you the BEST available rate over all competitors for the room rate of the same hotel & dates or your first night is FREE if you book at the Super8.com website or call the tollfree number to book.
I called, made reservetions for 5 people in a 2 Queen bed room for $79.99. Then found a rate of $70.00 a night for the same room/number of people/hotel/dates on expedia.com. I filed a claim within a couple hours, but received no response.
So I called customer service. She told me she replied by email (which I checked often and have no record or receiving), and further explained that the expedia rate was actually more because they charge an additional $15 a night ($5 for each additional person after 2) so the rate would be $85 a night.
The Best Available rate, with the $5 extra person charge would be $84.99 ($79.99 + $5.00). So the difference is .01 cents!!!!!!!!!!!
What kind of scam is that? You cannot win with this claim. If the hotel actually does charge $5 for each additional person I will end up paying $94.99 a night for a crappy nofrills hotel.
Now that is what I call a RIPOFF!!!!!

As a manager for a Super 8 Motel, let me assure you that the Best Rate or Free Night is strongly enforced, with the hotel having no option to not pay. I have been charged for a free night because someone found a rate for one cent less. On top of the free night the hotel has to pay a penalty to the franchise for not meeting the lowest rate. Often, third party web-sites (expedia, hotels.com, etc) do not display the additional people fees up front. This is confusing and often misleading.
