A few days before I was to return to the states from a classified area in Iraq which had no cell phone service. My Mom called T-Mobile. I made sure she had a phone, she knows 611 and I am not sure of the motive, but knowing my Mom probably wanted to surprise me with the newest phone. She has done that all my life.

I am her payee for disability, and look after her needs when I am home.

As soon as my feet hit American soil, I was on my way to see my wife, and family, including my Mom.

We had service with them for 6 long years, 3 deployments, and one scam after another.

When I arrived home I realized a scammer had my legaly Disabled Mother talked into a plan that changed the crazy $500.00 a month plan to a $90.00 a month plan which was not even a real plan, since two phones were BB, (so I could speak with my family through the BB messenger feature in Afghanistan.)

So these 2 lines were useless stripped of the BB service by this scammer.

However we had let T-Mobil know that we were letting the phones go now that our contracts were up, due to past scams that almost ruined my credit.

My Mom thought she was helping by lowering the bill, and did agree to a contract that lowered the bill by $400.00, plus they took $200.00 off the old bill to entice her more. The problem is...she never could make decisions on my phone before, but all of a sudden they said she was a signer, and she had tied me to T-Mobile for 2 more years on phones that are falling apart.

I called and explained, but they have us hooked into paying $200.00 per line X 4 which is $800.00 when she has not the capacity to understand fast talking scammers. Plus no new nice phones, but old phones we were making last so I could move my phone with my wife, which I did.

They still will not take my name off, or take the 2 year contract off even though they know she has dementia, and had her in tears saying I could have called her anytime from Iraq because his son called him all the time from Iraq.

I do not know where his son was, but if I could have called, I would have called my wife, my sister's, and my Mom, who I love dearly. If I could not call them I certainly could not call T-Mobile.

T-Mobile has betrayed my family more than once, twice, now 3 times, due to scams, including a non-official store who activated old numbers that were not ours then sent the bill to west hell, and put it on my credit. I went through fraud and they backed down with a letter to the credit company.

This has reached a new low. Can anyone tell me if the legaly disabled have any rights against scams such as this?

When my parents moved, they added me to their cable bill so that when they had problems I could resolve them faster.  The cable company they use would only allow me to be added only after my parents were notified that the call would be recorded (Everything is recorded now-a-days), and verifying the last four digits of my father's (Main acct. holder's) S.S. number.  Is there any form of written or verbal (recorded call?) consent from you that can be produced indicating you allow your mother to alter the phone plan?  If not who is listed on the original contract, just your wife and yourself?  That would be what you would go by if no recorded, verifyable, autherization I am guessing. Hope this is info might be a helpful.

Also, thank you for your service.

Thank you for serving our country. Tell your wife and children thank you for taking the reins while you were gone. We appreciate all that you have given to us and helped us. I know for a fact it takes a lot from everyone involved in protecting our rights. It does put a strain on everything. But again thank you for being one of those to step up to the plate and take care of us. You and your family have our utmost respect .

God Bless

I don't know if I misread or missed it but she can't legally put anything and/or agree to anything when you were deployed. I am a little confused how they allowed her to make changes. My husband has been deployed and I was not able to make any changes to the account (this is AT&T , which they bought T-Mobil). Only thing I could do was pay the bill , call and complain that AT&T sent me crap phones. As far as the person telling you they were able to talk all the time to his son is a pile of pooh. The only way I was able to talk to my husband was through Skype/MagicJack. My husband could not use his phone (or anyone else for that matter) as it can be tracked if your in Iraq. No one in his unit was allow to take their cell phones so this guy is a complete idiot. It simply was not allowed by the government for the troops safety. Paying that much for anything is completely ridiculous. Seems like the guy took advantage of your mother due to her illness. Keep calling them. Who in the world would want to pay 200 x 4??? This guy did a number but again your mother can not make changes to your account UNLESS you made her had a piece of paper giving her power of attorney. I have been there and being a wife of a formerly deployed Iraq veteran they can not accept changes period unless you have given her power of attorney.

Good luck to you, and rip them a new one!!!!
