I have never heard of employees being subject to giving personal health reports to the company, and I have been there MANY years. As far as "hearing through the grapevine" what is on his review, why would he have to "hear it through the grapevine?" He would be told what is on his review at a sit down, face to face review process. His own review would not be second hand knowledge to him. As far as being let go and the reasons for it, how many people do you really think are going to admit fault to their friends and family because of a less than stellar work performance, etc. This just sounds like a case of someone not wanting to admit fault for one's own actions.

You heard this "through the grapevine" so I highly doubt your friend was fired for the reasons you say he was. It costs way too much to train new people, and especially if they are in school, they probably won't stick around for very long. Also, neither you nor anyone else is every going to be able to prove that this was discrimination based on the fact that he is a veteran, mainly because no one in their right mind will believe you. Beyond that, Target is too powerful of a company to do something that stupid and not have some other reason for it. You don't know if your friend was stealing or was unable to keep up with his job duties for whatever reason. There are many other reasons that he could have been let go, and for whatever reason you decided it was your job to blame Target, when you don't know what the heck happened.
