Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

My husband and I were ecstatic when he finally bought his Harley a few weeks ago, and I immediately registered both of us for a safety course through Texas Mororcycle Safety Course. My mother-in-law recently underwent brain surgery after being diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer, and we found out 8 days before our course that because of other scheduling conflicts, we would be unable to attend the course becuase we needed to stay with her (she cannot be left alone overnight). I emailed and called Mr. Slaughter and Shannon, who I assume is his wife, six days before the course. My email was returned (though strangely, I had communicated with Shannon at this address previously), and my phone call was not. I called again five days before the course. I emailed and called again several times four days before the course, leaving two voice mails asking to both cancel our seats and return my calls and emails. Nothing.

Honestly, I assumed they were just busy; my husband and I are also small business owners, so I understand time can be a precious commodity. When I finally got in touch with Jim Slaughter via cell phone two days before the course and tried to explain what was happening in hopes we could either go through with a refund or reschedule a class, he was absolutely belligerent. Honestly, for the first few minutes of our phone call, I was genuinely confused because (1) I have never had a business owner, much less a teacher speak to me in the deragatory manner he affected and (2) I wasn't calling to complain, nor was I in any way upset.

When Mr. Slaughter yelled at me over the phone that I was "wasting your time and mine right now with this garbage," I told him "I understand your 72-hour cancellation policy, and I cancelled these classes a few days ago..." He cut me off and yelld, "I have no record of that!" I told him, "I can send you all of my emails and records of-" He cut me off again and said, "Look, I don't have any cancellations. It's not my problem!" I tried once more, "Mr. Slaughter-" "You are wasting our time, GOODBYE!" And he hung up on me.

I will never do business with these people; avoiding my early cancellation tin order to keep my money is an illegal practice, and the way in which Jim Slaughter spoke to me was obnoxious and insulting.
