I purchased an entire living room set from The Room Place 2 years ago.  I purchased it from the lower level floor in Lombard, Il., thr outlet part.  The couch did not have anything wrong with it except a small tear on the back of the couch and was discounted down to $1500.

After 6 months of having the furniture, it began to slowly fall apart. The tear (which faces the wall, untouched) had ripped more, under the couch began to fall apart and hang very low to the ground.  Then the recliners began making noises and having trouble reclining when anyone would sit in them.

I called and complained to management, but was repeatedly told the furniture was "as is" and there was nothing they could do about it.

The couches have now, after 2 years, have giant holes in between the couch cushions. The holes are so large and deep you can see the floor.  The recliner chair is not useable, and the attached recliners to the sofa sectional are now making noises and having issues reclining.

Sept. 1, 2012 I brought in pictures of the couch sectional and showed management.  The lady behind the counter asked for my card and looked up my account that way.  When she pulled it up she asked me to prove it was me.  I said I just gave you my card, she then waved my card at me and said "it doesnt tell me anything about you at all."  I gave her my ID so she could then verify the information was correct.  I was talking to the manager about the couch and showing him pictures while this lady behind the counter rolled her eyes at me.  Then I was told by the manager that "There is nothing I can do it is an as-is purchase, so if it falls apart, we are not responsible."  When I questioned the quality of the furniture the manager repeated "like I said, nothing I can do, I am not sorry about this situation as it is not our responsibility, it is an as-is furniture."

I am not even finished paying the furniture off and it is almost useless after 2 years! I am very upset that I paid that much money for an entire living room set to completely fall apart within 2 years and to then be treated horribly by the manager of the store!
