Just wanted to make everyone to be more aware of their checks when they go out to eat. We went to TokyoHana's (59 between Edloe and Buffalo Spdway) last night. There were 5 in our party....when we were done we asked for 2 separate checks.

It was a birthday celebration so we picked up the birthday girls check. We noticed that a gratuity had been added to the bill of 18%. My boyfriend looked through the menu and could not find anywhere it was stated about the tip. I looked and found it toward the end of the menu. The menu said on parties over 6 there will be a 15% gratuity added and parties over 8 will have an 18% gratutiy added. I don't mind tipping, but we had 5 in the party, and they charged us 18%.

When we brought this to the attention of the manager, she stated that it was programmed in the computer and they needed to update their menus. She took it off. She was very rude, did not explain what she was doing, basically said, they were right and we were wrong, but corrected the bill  to appease us. She also charged the credit card for the full amount after some other mistakes were found, and she assured us it
would be for the lower amount. I think this was all a scam to get more money from each patron. Imagine how much they can collect in a day if they do this to each group eating there.

When we asked for a receipt with the new dollar amount she claimed she could not do that, the new receipt would just show the total only. She did give us a slight discount for our aggravation (about $3.00) and we did leave a tip, but it was what we wanted to give, not what they could scam.

All I am saying is BEWARE and check your bill, check the additon, what you are being charged for and for unknown or unexpected charges.

The "other mistakes" aside, are you saying that an 18% tip is "too much"? Perhaps you should stay home and eat, or try fast food.
