We were on vacation during December 2012 in southern Florida and attended a presentation by Travel Emporium at their Datura St. location in West Palm Beach. During this presentation I asked many questions relative to the claims they were making and they answered with statements and "facts" about the availability and cost of their services, including hotels, auto rentals, air fares, time shares, excursions, etc. They pulled up their web site and presented "search results" to validate their claims and answer my questions. We were thinking of relinquishing our membership in RCI as its rules have changed so much since we joined them and it was no longer a good resource for vacation services. The Travel Emporium reps (there were 3 reps and the VP giving and attending the presentation) compared their rates to RCI, the availability of timeshares and hotels, and locations and made a convincing argument that they could provide these services at a much better rate. We balked at the $5,995 entry fee and $189 yearly fee but they provided a brief return on investment that indicated that within a few years we would have aved enough to recoup the investment. This all seemed reasonable and we signed up and paid with a credit card. During the four years we have been a member, we have used a travel emporium offering once, for a car rental. All other inquiries have resulted in the places we wanted to go to had no Travel Emprium offerings available or the costs were the same as what we could find on the open market. We challenged Travel Emporium reps on the phone about the lack of services and the costs and their canned answer was they did not know of the deals we stated and the services at the destinations we requested were all sold out, and claimed that because of this they had no liability. We are now seeking some sor of recourse because this very expensive membership is no more than a scam and we have done much better booking our own travel arrangements on line with companies other than Travel Emporium. Do not buy into this scam, you will regret it. By the way, according to one of their scam report responses, they state they have a whopping 300 members. Guess we bought into a pretty exclusive club.
