The complaint leveled against Troy Liller is false on every count and readers should beware the counsel of fools at sites like the ripoffreport.com as it is ripe for spreading lies and being a place for unhappy people to vent their frustrations with no accountability for truth whatsoever.
Troy Liller is the only person I’ll let near my home because of his excellent work ethic (often 12+ hours a day), knowledge, and high quality work. No one should take seriously the person writing this ripoff report on Troy Liller. It appears that he’s either identified the wrong Troy Liller or is peeved about something and has chosen to write slanderous and factually wrong information. A point by point refutation follows:
1. “If we had paid what he was asking…” implies what is likely the real problem: he didn’t pay Troy Liller for the agreed upon work. This is all too common in construction. The person complaining is often the culprit due to misunderstanding or balking at the prospect of paying what was agreed upon.
2. “… he never intended to complete the work.” The complainer can’t know what someone did or did not intend to do. If the complainer didn’t pay, as appears to be the case, then I wouldn’t complete the work either. Only a fool would.
3. “He even ordered deck materials to do a siding job.” Without specifying what deck materials, this is a pointless complaint. Many builders find that cross project material—like fasteners—work best for projects, so you might end up with deck fasteners on a siding job because they work best for some situation. (This is just an example since the complainer didn’t specify what deck materials were used.)
4. “…he was into Methamphetamine.” First, this is slander and the complainer could be in some legal hot water. It is also a groundless accusation from an obvious unreliable source. I’ve know Troy Liller for more than forty years and can attest that he is not on drugs of any kind. Never has been and never will be.
5. “The supplies were no doubt installed on other jobs.” This claim is unsupported by any evidence and is obviously untrue.
6. “He avoided phone calls from the Maryland Home Improvement Commission who has not been able to serve him with a summons to appear to a criminal deposition to get his side of the story.” You would have to be pretty gullible to believe this false claim. You don’t get phone calls for a court summons. An officer of the law delivers them to you in person. Not answering your phone is no way to avoid a court order.
7. Since when did the “Maryland Home Improvement Commission” have the power to summon someone “to a criminal deposition?” The complainer is obviously making things up to support his side of this very twisted story.
8. “He was always at the Black Bear drinking.” Again, this complainer either has the wrong Troy Liller or is purposely slandering an excellent individual. Troy Liller doesn’t drink and would never enjoy a place like the Black Bear.
9. “Maryland Judiciary Case Search .com Troy Liller you will see some of his Maryland Lawsuits.” OK, I did. There’s exactly one from 2008. Contractors occasionally run into people like this complainer who don’t want to pay for the agreed upon work or fabricate some other reason for suing the contractor.
10. “He pays off realtors to give recommendations. They get paid on the backside from what my Lawyer in Oakland Maryland told me.” More unsubstantiated slander and what appears to be questionable counsel from an unnamed attorney.
Bottom line: this ripoff report should be disregarded entirely as it is obviously the ranting of someone who felt slighted for some reason and believed that he was taken advantage of. The evidence suggests that the complainer’s honesty should be in question, not Troy Liller’s. Troy was referred to this complainer by word of mouth for doing good work, still the most reliable way to find quality craftsmen. It’s a shame that contractors can’t verify their customers in the same way before agreeing to a project.
