EDitor's UPDATED info 2-20-04: Rip-off Report is still receiving complaints that they are not receiving the refunds as promised. Rip-off Report has been in contact with the Company and has made them aware of these issues. They have assured us that refunds are being given to those who are providing them with all the correct contact information requested by them. They have also provided confirmation/proof of over 2,600 refunds to date, on a spreadsheet, and Rip-off Report staff called and verified more than a dozen consumers at random, all very angry & outraged, but, they all did get their refund. The company again apologized for the delay and reported that credit to your account could take as long as 4-5 days. As we understand it, this company only does the processing for all the other companies, so they are at the mercy of those companies funds, further delaying your refund.

Rip-off Report is hoping they will live up to what they have promised, we think they will, ..we'll see. Rip-off Report will continue to investigate more into this situation, and we will eventually post an UPDATE to the main Report at this web address: https://www.ripoffreport.com/view.asp?id=76605

Please be patient, we can only tell you what they are telling us.

Well, I was contacted by someone from Trust Benefits and was told I could receive an unsecured credit card of my choice for $299. I was directly lied to by the telemarketer and the customer service line refuses to give me a refund. Here is the email I sent them.

To Whom it may concern:

I was contacted by one of your reps in early January 2004. I was told of a program that would allow me to recieve an unsecured credit card with:

1. $2000 Limit

2. No Annual Fees

3. No Monthly Fees

4. 4.9% APR for the first 6 months

This sounded like a good program that would allow me to have an unsecured credit card and rebuild my credit after past mistakes. I gave information for my account to be debited in the amount of $299. I was told I would receive my package that contained a credit card along with other savings in 15-20 business days.

I patiently waited for 20 business days to come and go. Still nothing received from your company. I am forced to call your customer service line, which I might add is doing more of a dis-service for your company. The CSRs are very impolite and believe by telling you to simply wait longer have handled the problem. I was told there was a shipping problem that had delayed all orders for 1-2 weeks. I was slightly bothered, but accepted the longer wait.

The second week passes with still no sign of my package. Once again I am forced to contact customer service. This time when I tell the CSR I have not received my credit card he abrubtly stops me mid sentence and says they do not offer a credit card. Instead I am to receive a "benefits" package.

Now, on my original phone conversation back in January, there was only talk about a credit card and which one I preferred, Visa or Mastercard. This is the first time I've ever heard anything about a "benefits" package. All I was told is I WOULD be receiving for my $299 an Unsecured VISA card. Had I been informed any other way I would have said NO. I don't want coupons or savings on other items, I simply want a credit card that would help me rebuild.

After going over this with me the CSR says in the "benefits" package I receive will be a CD with a list of banks I am pre-approved for an unsecured card. I specifically ask him if I will be approved for exactly what I was originally told and the response was maybe.

So now I have put forth money for a credit card which is not arriving in the package like originally stated, and I probably won't get what I was originally told I would recieve for my $299. He then checks with shipping to see what the hold up is with my package. After holding for a long amount of time, I lost track when my eyes went so dry from sitting in one place for so long, I was told my package was shipped to the wrong address. Then, I was informed my package had to be taken apart, put back together for my "safety", and reshipped. All of this would only take another 15-20 business days.

UNACCEPTABLE! I am not even getting the credit card I was told I would get in the package. Further more, I have handed over $299 of my hard earned money for what will be 3 months and I get nothing in return. For $299 I could go to a pretty good credit repair place and probably have my credit repaired AND receive a new credit card before I get this package!

When explaining this is not acceptable to the CSR, and I want to speak to someone to get a refund, I am laughed at and told it is non-refundable and my only option is to wait for the "benefits" package I ordered. I no longer have an interest in your package or your company. I hope you help other people, but I am not one of those you have helped.

Your services are unwanted now, I just want my money back. I'm sure the way your telemarketing department works is not legal. If you want happy customers they can not be lied to about what they are putting their money up for. Also, I have read the response made by rip-off report.com about some customers misunderstanding what they were receiving. However, I believe that is totally inaccurate and I believe maybe it's time to look at the telemarketers. I was directly lied to. I'm not sure if your company records all conversations, or just the part where the customer gives permission for you to debit their hard earned money. If you record the whole conversation I'm sure you would see how illegal the actions of your company are. I wish no further trouble with your company as the headache has already been enough. I only wish a refund of my money.

I AM one of your customers and the only way I would feel good about your company is to receive my money back. Here is all the information you will need to confirm I have placed an order and I would appreciate a confirmation from you that I will be refunded.

Name: Kris

address: ------------

City, State Zip: Eureka, MO 63025

Phone #: xxx-xxx-xxxx

That information is more than enough to confirm I have an order with your company, however, my order was to receive a credit card, not a "benefits" package. Also, I should have received that card in a reasonable amount of time without several different excuses. I am tired of excuses and just want my money refunded.

Thank you for your time,

Kris
