It seems Twain-Tech doesn't know when to stop when people tell them to.

I sent a complaint to Twain-Tech about their twaint.dll program being installed on my computer without my permission, asking them to either remove the program and the related registry keys, etc. that are installed with it, or else include a prompt asking user whether they wish to download the program.

However...instead of a response, every 24 hours, I get a message from Spyware Guard saying that twaint.dll has been blocked, and THEN I have to go into my spyware removal programs and remove all the registry keys and other junk that were downloaded into my comp.

I have no choice but to force the issue and file a complaint against Twain-Tech. Anyone know a good place to go to file such a complaint?

Anthony....disable SpywareGuard while you do this

I don't know if it makes any differance or not, but you might want to make sure you are not connected to the Internet while uninstalling. That way the application can't communicate with anything. Also, you may want to disable SpywareGuard while you do this and turn it back on when you're done. It may be thinking that spyware is doing something on your computer because it notices activity with Twain-Tech. As far as running "regsvr32 c:\windows\twaintec.dll", all that does is disable the software. That's why your spywareguard did what it did. It noticed the activity. You said mxtarget.dll couldn't be found. Did you look for twaintec.dll also? If it's there, I would delete it too. I would also find some software to clean your registery, if you don't already have it. I use RegScubXP. This my find stuff your spywareguard missed. If you have any other question about this, email me at bkwilseyathotmaildotcom and I'll see if I can be of anymore help. This way we're not taking up space on this website.

...unfortunately, as soon as I do "regsvr32 c:\windows\twaintec.dll", SpywareGuard immediately informs me that it had to block twaint.dll again...meaning that it was put back on AFTER I jsut deleted it. Also...no sign of mxtarget.dll could be found on my system. Any other sugestions?

Uninstall Instructions

I don't know if you looked over the website or not, but they do have instructions for uninstalling. Also, Twain-Tech did not install the application on your computer. It was included, without you knowing it, in something else that you installed. Even though the program does suck when installed on your computer, you can't really accuse Twain-Tech for placing it there. If you can find where it came from, you might want to report them to Twain-Tech for violating their privacy policy. Please read the website for more info. http://www.twain-tech.com/ http://www.twain-tech.com/uninstall.htm Copied from website: If you want to uninstall, you can do so easily through the add/remove function in your control panel. You can access your control panel by going to: 1. Start (typically, the button in the bottom left of your screen) 2. Choose SETTINGS 3. Choose CONTROL PANEL 4. Choose ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS 5. Select twain-tech 6. Click on ADD/REMOVE In the absence of an entry in ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS please use on of the following methods: For Windows98 and WindowsXP users: a) To permanently disable the software click "Start" and then "Run" and type the following command which unregisters the software: regsvr32 c:\windows\twaintec.dll " b) To completely remove the software: reboot and then Find and Delete the file mxtarget.dll. For Windows2000, WindowsME and WindowsNT users: a) To permanently disable the software click "Start" and then "Run" and type the following command which unregisters the software: "regsvr32 c:\winnt\twaintec.dll " b) To completely remove the software: reboot and then Find and Delete the file twaintec.dll.
