Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Back in 1997, after having a second child, my husband & I started shopping for a van. We were on a tight budget & had no credit history so we went to "The Duck". We were shown several vans but we thought we picked a nice one. We were rushed through the test drive because the salesman claimed he was running short on people to cover the office. When we returned, we were rushed through some half "@ssed" papers that were incomplete. I refused to sign until all the details were filled in, we were told & given papers to take the vehicle home for the weekend until we could be "approved".

When we got home, we discovered that the tail gate would not open. It appeared to have been "popped" as if someone had broken into this vehicle. In addition we discovered several things were not working such as rear wiper, rear lights etc. They were closed at this time so we were forced to wait till the next morning. We called them (Saturday) and they said to bring the van in Monday & they would correct everything.

MOnday, we pull in and they removed the plastic & carpeted covering that was covering the inside of the door. To my HORROR, tons of bug carcasses (probably close to 10 pounds) fell to the ground along with pine straw bits and dark dirt. The technician (more like a kid with a wrench) excused himself and ran off. About 10 minutes later the manager asked if we needed help looking at a vehicle. This was the same "brilliant" individual that sent us home with this piece of junk just 3 days before. **I later found that this car was on a web site for FLOOD VEHICLES. This vehicle had been under water for 2 weeks in Louisiana during a major flood. (If you do your research, there are now great places to find lemons and FLOOD cars before you get ripped off.)

When we asked to cancel the sale, he tried telling me it was a "done deal". Well, he was wrong! I NEVER SIGNED ANYTHING. When I confronted him with the "temporary" papers he gave us and told him I was calling the local consumer advocate Clark Howard, he quickly gave us back our copies of our finance papers and threw out the contract.

I would NEVER step foot back into this establishment again. To top it off, they called me 3 months later to say I had been pre-approved as a "former customer in good standing". What a CROCK of CR@P!!! I explained to the misguided telemarketer that I NEVER was a true customer and never would consider being one after my experience.

Now A Wiser Consumer
