My wife and I are in contract to buy a busienss located in Florida. This business had previously operated as a Uni K franchise. The agreement expired 8 months ago and was not extended. The seller notified the Franchise from our understanding several years ago of their interest in selling the business and asked for UNI k support in referring any buyers. For this period of time Uni K Wax referred no buyers to our understanding. Seller proceeded in sale and did not renew with UNI k and worked under expired contract for 8 months.
On the day before the closing UNI K sent a letter to seller to cease and desist in sale with a lot of legal mubo jumbo. As a buyer I was ready to enter the business and we have our own business model offering much more than just waxing to compete in todays market. We had lease approval from land lord, website, corporate papers etc.
I would tell buyer of a future Uni K Wax Franchise to be clear in their objectives. Make sure they are comfortable with any agreememnt they sign knowing that you may not be allowed to sell your business to anyone other than a UNI K buyer. Understand what your options are for the location once your agreement has ended and who you are allowed to sell to. This current seller has thousands of dollars and time in the busienss and even after expired agreement is being interfered with by the Franchise. BUYER OF UNI K WAX FRANCHISE BE AWARE<>They have interferred with our dream of owning a business.
In summation this seller has 8 months after expired contract?? No extension?? No current agreement! Closing on business and sellign to a new buyer no relationship operationg with their own model. UNI K Wax has asked for 30 days to provide a buyer and I believe its just a stall tactic to collect their 10% and force a relationship/ find a buyer no body wants.

“I would like to withdraw this report. I was over zealous in my writing of the negativity review of Uni -K and did not allow the process to complete. Additionally I was not aware of all of the circumstances and am fully satisfied with Uni K's conduct in all respects.

We are still in negotians with seller and franchise and hope for an agreeable outcome for all interested parties.
