Barrister Raymond Kalu contacted me through email; he said he got my info from the American Embassy in Nigeria, as next of kin to Wallace McGowan who was killed in an auto accident.

After talking with Mr Kalu several times over the phone which became more of my expense; he told me that I would need $1900 and to get as much as I could he would get the rest.

I explained to Mr Kalu that I would have to borrow the money, I borrowed $200 and sent it to him thru the Western Union to a Kingsley Obuchi in Lagos Nigeria.

Then he called me to say I needed $4500 to have the money ($18.5 million) which he was suppose to get half. I don't normally believe this sort of action but he had creditials.

He sent me a scanned copy of his passport, barrister certificate, and death certificate of the late Wallace McGowan; McGowan is my family name.

Usually I have good instincts about these things but some reason I couldn't tune in properly and I guess that was due to the fact that I have suffered some real financial blows.

I was desperate to believe; I truly belived that this was a true blessing sent from God. I really did get excited, I even told my chidren that God had blessed us financially. As bad as it feel I was still hoping that it could have been true.

Now I owe my friend $200 that I can not pay, due to a back injury in a auto accident I have not worked in over a year. I have applied for disability and waiting for an answer

How can I get the $200 back? Please help.

"How can I get the $200 back? Please help." I'm sorry, but you can't. He's not a barrister, and his name probably isn't Raymond Kalu. The $200 is gone with the wind. I know you're in a desperate financial condition, but don't allow yourself to be conned. From this bitter experience, you now know that it just makes things worse. Explain the situation to your friend and set up a repayment schedule. Maybe $10 a month for twenty months? I hope things work out OK for you with your disability settlement. Get a lawyer if you haven't already. They take cases like this on contingency.

You've been scammed. These scammers will harvest email addresses and send out thousands of emails like the one you recieved.

Sophia: You've fallen victim to a very common form of fraud called the 419 Advance Fee Fraud scam. There was no one killed in an auto accident, there is no fund waiting to be freed up. These scammers will harvest email addresses and send out thousands of emails like the one you recieved. If someone responds, they will clean you out of everything you will be willing to give them. Get out now, cease all contact, and if you have given him any bank details, close the accounts immediately and open new ones - your bank shouldn't have a problem with this. I am sorry that this happenned to you. While you have lost $200, it is nothing compared to what he would have gotten you for. Cease all contact immediately. Unfortunately, Western Union is completely untraceable and there is no way to get your money back. For more info on these types of scams, check out www.scampatrol.org and www.419legal.org Sorry this had to happen to you :-(

The 200 bucks you sent is lost to that scumbag. This is about the oldest scam on the books, they just keep sending out these e-mails until they get a hot one. You were that hot one, that is why when you sent the 200 he decided to go for broke and the price went from 1900 to 4500. Count you blessings you did not borrow 1900. Now you have learned to simply delete these e-mails. Nobody I mean Nobody is out there to send you millions of dollars PERIOD.
