We sent our Cummins ISX engine to be rebuilt to US diesel Remanufacturing.  We had it instaled in local shop where we maintain all our trucks. Right away there were codes, but i needed that truck up and running asap so i had the shop change fuel actuator and some sensor without calling US Diesel Reman because it was minor and i didn't have time to go trough warranty procces. Codes were cleared and i tought truck is ready to go.

5 mile run back to our yard went well, but as soon as i put the truck under a trailer it would go to 2000 rpm and wouldn't respomse to anything but to turn it off. Than towing, shop again, towing again all in circle..

Than i took the truck to Cummins in Hodgkins IL, where they found burned injectors, camshaft, rollers with damage, comming out to about $12.000 in repairs. All that on engine that had 200 miles since it was rebuild!! Clay from US Diesel Reman offered me to ship him injectors so he can oring them again and replace the ones that were gone, but he wouldn't cover the damage to camshaft and any other physical damage. I refused that because i paid $26.500 for a working engine and i had lost faith in that company. His other solution was for me to tow the truck to their shop in Michigan where they can fix it for a charge. The omly solution i would accept was fixing it in Cummins - they refused.

I was desperately considering towing my truck to their shop, but than i did some research, which i should have done before i sent them my engine or wired any money.

This comany is owned by Spencer family. They have owned other engine reman businesses but they are all closed. Others are: Mid America Diesel, National Diesel engines, Superior Diesel Engines, Midwest Engines. Names associated with theese comapnies are James, Steven, Carl, Barbara. What they did was wire fraud. Hard working truckers would wire their money but they would never get the engine.

Type in this in your web browser: 16-cr-20126. This is United States of America v. Carl S. Spencer Jr AKA Steven Spencer. I think this is enough to tell you who are you dealing with.

At the end, I did get the engine, I can still get some value out of it, I dont know if I should consider myself lucky. I'm suing this company, i know i'm not gonna get a dime because they will go bankrupt by than, but i hope This will save YOU money and time.

In response to the customers accusations regarding US Diesel Remanufacturing being affiliated with any other company who practices bad business or fraudulent activity, this is 100% false. USDR, its owners, and representatives have never shared ownership or conducted business with any of the names listed here in this complaint. We supply hundreds of remanufactured engines worldwide every year and maintain a solid reputation in the industry for being an upstanding company who exercises the highest level of integrity.

Supplying quality remanufactured engines is of the upmost priority here at US Diesel Remanufacturing.  Every engine we build comes with a nationwide warranty that we stand behind 100% and providing good customer service is always important to us.

We spoke with the customers elected Cummins technician who was hired by the customer to diagnose and perform the necessary warranty repairs to the engine in question. The Cummins technician conveyed his concern to us about the camshaft and rollers, and it was this technician who originally stated that the only thing that can cause such damage to the camshaft and rollers is oil contamination. Even though that was the case, we still agreed that if the customer would send the camshaft and rollers back to us we would put them back through the remanufacturing process at no charge. Per our warranty terms and conditions this would allow us to inspect and verify cause of failure while allowing the customer to use his Cummins dealer to make the approved repairs under warranty. We also have the capability of testing ISX injectors. We requested that the injectors be sent back to USDR so they could be tested and replaced as needed. The customer refused to comply with this arrangement.

The main reason for the dispute in this case is that the customer is asking that we approve their warranty claim of failed parts without supplying such parts to us for inspection and verification of failure. We had proposed a plan to the customer that would have had the replacement parts back to the customer inside 3-4 days but unfortunately the customer refused to return the parts for reasons unknown to us.
