I was contacted by Lauren Evans with USA Card Services after answering a ad from a Parents magazine for working at home opportunities. He stated that he had a great opportunity for a very limited time. He told me it was for starting a web site store that they would talk me thru the set up and get me on the top page of the major search engines within a few days after launching my site.

This was on 4/26/06. He did the credit check and approved me then I interviewed with some man to see if I was right for the "job" I was approved. I then was presented with all the info on the set up and not given a chance to think it thru. They played on my desire to work from home while raising my small children. I agreed against my better judgement.

I was told that I would receive a lap top computer ready for business. I already had a home computer plus a lap top, but "the lap top comes with the opportunity". I then was faxed a lease and rushed thru the initials and signing without a chance to really review it. I know it is my fault for not insisting on a chance to review and think, but they gauranteed a great business, but did not gaurantee the income. I then was locked into a 48mo non cancellable lease thru A-1 Leasing Co.

I received my stuff and started to set up a web store. I did not receive the assistance that they promised. It took them months to get everything set up to launch my site even after me contacting them repeatedly and threating them if they did not get my site launched.

It was finally launched in late August. I was never on the search engines unless I specifically typed in my web site name. In 6 mo only had 3 sales. It cost me $130.09/mo to A-1 Leasing and another [email protected] to the Ipayment and authorize.net for credit card processing. I closed my web store on Oct. 31, 2006 and closed my business account.

Good Luck with your battles!

I want to know how others are doing, I filed Report: #261374 today and have left my info with the Dallas attorney - Is anyone having any success in making A-1 go away? I cannot believe that I have to settle with those robbers. What about the Michigan Attorney General office? Any help there?

Rip-off by Startup Essentials, A-1 Leasing, Bond Corp., Optigroove and Startup Stoefront

#4Consumer Comment

Please check out my ripoff report #260164. I was advised to contact the FBI, District Attorneys office as well as Better Business Bureau. I sent back my laptop to A-1 Leasing last week. Tried to contact Startup Essentials, but they had moved, no forwarding address. The more of us ripped off that do the above, the better chance that we have of shutting them down. I want out of my erroneous contract and don't want to see anyone else hurt by them. Also, contact the Attorney mentioned in other reports in Dallas. They are trying to ger a class action suit set up. The more of us that he hears from the better.

Hi Kristy, I was also a victim of this company, but I contacted alawyer in Texas who gave me advice as to what to do and I had already done hat he suggested. However, he told me that the company had agreed to shut down in respose to his lawsuit. If you are still having problems respond and i will direct you to him. Good Luck

Sent the Terminal Back to ladco leasing

I too was victim of this scam from USA CARD Services. Nothing they promised was delivered. To make a story short, I recently called LADCO Leasing and they offered to take the equipment back however it did not mean that charges would stop. They discounted my monthly fee by a sorry $10.00/month. I am also very interested in joining a class action suit against this company. While I do not have much left in my contract (about a month) I am willing to follow thru so that no one else falls victim of theses crooks. I will be watching your responses. Hang tight!

Unable to get cancelled

#7Consumer Comment

Sun, May 27, 2007

I have had several calls from A-1Leasing's Attorney, very persistent. I was not able to get him to cancel my contract. I have written several letters to A-1Leasing, filed a compliant with the better business bureau and send letters to the Attorney. Sent several letter to USA Card Service. I am still in the lease with the option of paying a flat fee. I was told if I did not pay the fee I would have to pay 8,000.00 which is the cost of the contract, the cost for breaking the lease, and other charges. I do not understand why some people are able to break the lease where others are not. I tried to tell the attorney, if I did not have the money to continue monthly payments therefore where on earth am I going to get money to pay a flat fee of $2,000.00. I was told if I did not make the agreement I would have to go to court and the judge would still have me pay the bill. Does anyone have any more information? This has been a nightmare. Some people say they stopped making payments and do not hear anything from A-1Leasing. I have been hearing from them continuously for months. Any suggestion greatly appreciated.

Contacted A-1 Leasing

Hello. I contacted A-1 Leasing and was refused cancellation also. I am four months into the contract and have been trying to get out. I was given a buy-out amount. I explained that StartUp Essentials is not honoring their commitment but still no way to end lease other than a pay-off. If anyone knows of a solution, please let me know. May also be intrested in the Class Action Lawsuit. Only problem is I have very limited funds.

I have posted a report about USA Card Services, Ladco Leasing... Our court date against USA Card Services is set for 'tax day' and we haven't heard from them at all. I don't know what to expect but we are preparing a VERY good case against them for all their broken promises on this so-called 'work at home' crap!!! Also, I have email from them promising the exact things they told the BBB that they don't do. We are needing more people to write letters telling how they have been scammed into this mess... It's too bad we can't help each other out like this. It may give more leverage in our lawsuits. The website people referred to that helps you to get out of these leases is supposed to be under construction getting ready for a new revised version, but all of us who needed it NOW are left in the lurch. I thought the companies that scammed us finally got it taken down as we've heard they've been threatening...

Lawsuit has been filed against USA Card Services, A-1 Leasing and Bond Corp. Stay with Lease Breaker and follow those instructions. It works. We plan to drive these creeps crazy and hopefully put them out of business. I'm sure these reports we are doing will be available for print as evidence there are 100's out there who have been scammed.

I have been scammed also. They call me during work and did a credit check over the phone and said i was approved. We went through the whole contract and at first it seem unreal because i didn't know that you could sign a document over the internet like that. I listened to all of the cd's and began taking steps toward getting my business started but everytime i called noone else the phone or either it was unavailable. This was 3 months ago and nothing has happen i tried calling USA Card Services but no help there. I closed my banking account and are in need of assisting. Could someone help me? Or point me in the right direction.

sent another letter to A1 Leasing

#23Author of original report

Sat, January 20, 2007

I sent another letter to A1 Leasing several months ago and again demandedthe account be closed and that I wanted to have it in writing. I have never heard anything from them and they have not tried taking any money, no collectors calling, nothing. I am hoping that it has been dropped. If at sometime it is turned to collection I have proof that I attempted multiple times to contact them and they never responded. In regards to USA Card, I received two responses from my state attorney general about their investigation and correspondents with USA. USA maintains that I am giving false information in my complaint. They practically called me a liar because I gave the wrong name of the salesman that contacted me. I said Lauren Evans, that is the person that faxed the final papers from their company. They basically said I was stupid for sending them my lap top. But you know I had no less or finiacial obligation to USA so I really couldn't care less what they had to say. I am going to assume that the situation is resolved and I am going to forget this period and move on with my life. I will never allow this to happen again, I have learned my lesson. If anything else happens I will post again. If I don't post that means that it was resolved. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!

Letters to Companies

#27Author of original report

Tue, December 05, 2006

I had a form letter that I found after doing a search for breaking a lease. The site that I used is not showing up on the search engines anymore. The first letter that you should send needs to go to USA Card Services with the computer. You need to make sure that you have your account # that USA Card gave you as well as the lease Acct # from A-1 Leasing. Send it to Account Cancellation Services, RE: Cancellation of Acct #... and return of Faulty Equipment. Tell them the letter is to inform them that(your name)is returning the equipment to their company exactly as you received it. Include that the equipment was sold to you by their representative and that it has absolutely nothing to do with your business. Advise them not to return the equipment and that you will not accept it if they do. Notify them that the practices under which they operate have been reported to the local and national authorities and that any communication from them will be recorded in order to assist in an investigation. Tell them that the letter serves as documentation of the severed relationship. Add any specific "promises" that they gave and that it did not take place. Send the letter and equipment back, including the study material and cd's, (make sure it is certified with signature required and put some insurance on it). After you receive the signed confirmation make a similar letter and send it to A-1 Leasing. Notify them that you are no longer in possession of the equipment and that you demand the lease be terminated and that they can contact USA Card with any further needs. Send them a copy of the signed receipt from USA Card. Make sure that you make a copy of everything. I still have not had a response from either company even after sending the second letter last week to A-1 Leasing. This process may not work, but is definetely worth a shot. I will update as things happen.

Sending letters

#28Consumer Comment

Mon, December 04, 2006

Was there a specific form of letter you sent to the companies? Should I just type up letters stating exactly what I feel/think, what complaints that I have filed and my request to have the lease terminated? Also, should I wait for confirmation they both have received the letters before sending the computer back? Just not sure where to begin after I close my account.

Access to credit card accounts

#29Author of original report

Sat, December 02, 2006

I am not sure how they can access your credit cards...so far they have not accessed any of mine. I urge you to contact the credit reporting companies and request that they watch your credit for any suspicious activity, they will watch it for 90 days and contact you of any activity. Since the lease states that they can charge you in any means possible to get their fees, I don't know if that would be considered fraud since "we" signed the leases. It should be illegal and it probably is. If I don't get things taken care of like I want, I may be speaking to my lawyer to help me with this situation. You said that you filed a complaint with your home state Attorney General, I urge you to file one with Texas and Michigan also so they can look into it. If they receive enough complaints it should pressure them into doing something about the fraud. I will post more updates as they happen. Good Luck! Make sure you keep copies of everything you send and receive and try to send any letters certified mail so you have a signed receipt from the receiver.

Complaint Filed

#30Consumer Comment

Fri, December 01, 2006

I have already filed a complaint with the FTC, but haven't heard from them as of yet. I plan to file a complaint with the Georgia Consumer Fraud Division of the Attorney General next week. If we notify the bank as to what is going on, ( we have a friend who works at the bank ), and I close my personal account the debit is coming out of and open a new one at the same bank, our friend could hopefully stop any further withdrawals. Especially if we show them the copy of the page where we attached a voided check from just the one account. How would these people have access to our credit cards? Even if they have our S.S. #, they have no way of getting info like that do they? Should we contact our credit card companies also? If we tell them it's all a fraud , (all of our cards offer fraud protection),they would probably file their own complaint against these people. Thanks so much for all your help. I am so glad I found this site, I have been so worried.

Closing Checking Account

I owned an actual store front business about 5 years ago and I used a credit card terminal through Ladco Leasing (same exact lease as I have with A-1 Leasing now). When I closed my store front business due to lack of sales, I closed my business checking account and notified Ladco that I had closed my business. I found out 2 months later that they had been removing their monthly fees from my personal account. The bank told me that they could not stop them from removing funds only notify me when they made a transaction. I had to pay out my lease to Ladco. If you look at your lease in all of the fine print you will see that they have access to any and all of your accounts including your checking accounts and your credit cards. I am not sure how they can do this is should and probably is illegal. I closed my business account that was under my business name and I notified in writing to my bank that this company was commiting fraud and that they were not to have access to my accounts. I also notified the credit reporting agencies, Equifax, TransUnion, and I can't remember off hand the other company, that they were to watch my credit report for fraudulent activity and to notify me immediately if any activity is noted. I did all this the end of October and my payment to A-1 Leasing was due on the 14th. So far they have not taking any funds from any of my accounts including my credit cards that I know of. I am watching them closely. My husband works for our bank so he watches our personal account daily. I did notify in writing to A-1 Leasing and USA Card that they had scammed me and that I would be taking action (I filed formal complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney General) if they did not dissolve my contract. This was done the first of November and I haven't heard a word. I mailed another certified letter to A-1 Leasing again today requesting my lease be dissolved and I requested it to be sent to me in writing. I will post my results. Be careful in closing your bank account since your husband has a business account at the same bank. Make sure that you make some complaints and send some letter to the authorities and to the companies. Good Luck and be prepared for a fight. The more complaints we make the better our chances at stopping this ripoff. Also I can't remember if I posted that USA Card Services stated to the Attorney General Investigator in Arkansas that they do not make cold calls, that I contacted them for their services. I answered an add in Parents Magazine for "Work At Home Mothers", and went to a website that asked for general contact info and I received a flood of calls for at home business opportunities.

I answered an add in Parents Magazine for "Work At Home Mothers", and went to a website that asked for general contact info and I received a flood of calls for at home business opportunities.

when you closed out your account, did you open a new one at the same bank? is there anyway for them to try and debit other checking accounts with your name if they are at the same bank, because my husband has his business account at the same bank as my personal account? what about credit cards? as far as I know that do not have of that info.

I am very much willing to go ahead with a class action lawsuit. I did a search on these companies today on the bbb website. When I typed in USA Card Services it also pulled up Chase Home Finance. Which is how they got our phone #. We have our mortgage and home equity line with Chase. A-1 Leasing came up as Bond Corporation Finance. It is basically a mortgage company as well. Both came up as members of the bbb and with clean records. How can that be when so many people have been scammed? It's time we put an end to this!
