USA Wireless 3rd party Vendor obtained personal information from cell phone provider to harrass clients Santa Ana California
In April my husband obtained a Cingular phone through a third-party vendor. One of those small stores that sell all sorts of Cell Provider service.
My husband had applied for credit with Cingular in the past and was told he was not eligible. Then USA WIRELESS called our home telemarketing and stating they could approve his service through Cingular.
He was then asked to pay $70 to obtain service as an activation fee and price for the phone (which has hardly any reception in the city we live in). Therefore they stated the phone was ours.
Last month we fell behind on our payments and had called Cingular to make payment arrangements to reactivate our account, they fully understood and said they would wait for us and hold our telephone #.
A couple weeks later we get a call from the vendor asking why the pymt hadn't been made on time and I stated it was none of their business and that I had contacted Cingular. They then stated they would pick-up the phone because we hadn't fulfilled the terms of the agreement.
It turns out they were accessing our information through the automated service and acting as my husband. Cingular then said they had no business retrieving our account info. and that a report would be filed.
It also turned out that the $70 charged was because my husband did not have a CA ID, and none of this money was applied to the account or activation fees and that the phone had to be returned according to USA WIRELESS. Cingular stated they were not aware that was how they were handling business and will see about taking the CIngular Vendor License away from them.
SO WATCH OUT WITH THESE LITTLE CHEESY RETAIL STORES THAT JUST WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MINORITIES AND CHARGE THEM FOR STUFF THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO... THANKS
