Same story accross the country. I'm very angry that so many of us were scammed the same way--getting billed for phantom phone calls to the UK we did not make and having no idea how they did it. A reputable company such as Verizon is actually allowing this to happen and participating in this scheme. I was billed by this unknown so call telecom company National One for calls to the U.K. for over $120, now with late charges.

In addition I was billed another $70 on my phone bill by USBI. No phone contact was given to dispute the charges. When you go the website nationalone.com, you are forced to download something without having a choice. Your computer is locked in not being able to leave. You have to turn off the computer to get out in fear of being redirected to some other scams. I chose to write to them but one bill shows "This invoice has been generated on behalf of Sunrise telecom, Ltd." The address to write to dispute the charges is P.O.BOX 10007, Bedford, NH 03110. The past due bill I received says generated on behalf of TIBS, LTD. The address to write to is P.O. Box 10428, Bedford, NH 03110. Two different addresses. I have no idea whether my letter to dispute the charges would get anywhere.

I contacted Verizon about this, they really didn't want to get involved. They would take the charges off the bill but is USBI bill it again, Verizon would bill it to me again. I had to contact USBI. Naturally they said I had to contact Tellis. I spoke to an agent with no name. Of course he said I have to contact national one. I said I want a phone number. There is none. He said I have to access nationalone.com for instructions. I told him I don't want to download anything I don't trust. He tells me it's a Microsoft approved plugin. Should I believe him? I went to the police to file a complaint of this scam and possible identity theft report instead.

I show the detective many copies of the complaints on this website. He was amazed and suggested that I contact the attorney general's office as well as filing a complaint with the FTC. I think we should all do this same. If we can put in this report, we could do the others also. Most importantly, I think we should all complain to Verizon or your local phone company who is actually allowing this kind of scam to take place by their inaction.

Who knows where National One is located, Texas or New Hampshire? I've already wasted so much time on trying to get this resolved.
