Just had an interesting experience pertaining to our Verison phone bill.

There is a suspicous charge from USBI, an unexplained charge for an unexplained service from a company we have never heard of for $21.89+TAXES for a total of $23.19.

Here's how it went:

1- Called Verison, they aren't allowed to talk about the companies who create these charges but can eliminate it for this month AND put a block on our bill from these people. So we did it.

Then was advised to call the 800 number on page 4 of our bill which is 1-800-460-0556.(USBI)Because it would only happen again month after month and that they may try to collect indivdually.

2- We call the 800#.The phone rings 36 times until finaly a computer answers and ask the usual questions only in a format that was very un-orgainized. The phone rings 36 more times and the same computer ask's the same questions again only adds how important we are to them and they HOPE we remain holding on the line.

After holding for about ten mins. all these weird noises which were obviously an attempt to make us think that we were disconnected started going on and on and on.So I hung up.

Thinking about the insultive nature of this I called back only to get the same format again. This time I hung in there after the last attempt to fool me into thinking we were disconnected. Awhile later someone actually picked up the phone and I swear it was an accident because they thought I was gone.

3-When asked who and what they were they could not give a straigt answer. It was very hard for us to communicate because of the very broken english on thier end and the fact that they were suprised and being coached from the background.When the charge was adressed they could not tell me what it was for other than maybe a fax machine, maybe a computer or an answering machine,cell phone ect....

4- Told them I was not buying their story and that I wanted it off our bill for good and that it would only get paid if they could prove it..all of a sudden they offered to do a one-time elimination of thier charge AND put a block that ONLY THEY can issue...FROM THEMSELVES!!!!!

5-This whole episode was either funny, or insulting. I haven't figured out which. Simular things have happened in the past with other unexplainable chareges on our Verison bill. Do they let anyone add a charge to thier bill that they aren't responsible for? It's sadening to think of how a crooked company can prosper from the poor souls who pay this and don't even know it.

Seems that if their collecting taxes on this fraudulent billing that the Dept. of Taxation and Finance should be involed.

I fully plan to report this to the FCC via the Dept.Of Justice which can be done easily online from WWW.findinfo.gov

Keep a watchful eye out for these cowardly thieves.
