Although Vivid Seats is saddened to hear of the events associated with this customers purchase, we must also clarify several inaccuracies from this article. The issues in dispute are the following: Vivid Seats did not bait and switch this customer, nor was the purchase of tickets for the wrong state in any way the fault of Vivid Seats.
The reviewers issue lies in the purchase of Trans-Siberian Orchestra tickets for a December 26th performance. The customer intended to purchase tickets for the Denver performance, but accidentally ordered tickets for New York. Although we understand that sometimes mistakes occur, Vivid Seats is not always capable of cancelling orders due to consumer
error. As the liaison between clients and resellers, Vivid Seats purchases tickets from professional resellers on the behalf of customers. Therefore, we do not have the ability to cancel orders without seller approval. If a reseller does not allow us to cancel an order, we cannot extend that gesture to our customers. That is precisely what occurred in this situation.
However, we did offer our client a set of solutions. Vivid Seats extended (and is still offering) to assist the customer in reselling tickets at no charge. In addition, Vivid Seats is also offering the customer the ability to purchase the originally desired tickets at cost, plus shipping (meaning the price we pay the sellers, plus the shipping charge). We understand that mistakes sometimes occur, and as such, we do our best to attempt to rectify those mistakes within our means.
What we must clarify is that Vivid Seats has never employed unlawful bait and switch techniques in regards to this, or any, order. We did not edit the details of the order after it was placed (as is implied in the complaint). Every customer has to check-out through a screen that requests all the information provided be double checked, and this measure is in place precisely to avoid situations like the one encountered by this customer. Although it is unfortunate that the wrong date was chosen during the checkout process, it certainly was not a bait and switch technique executed by Vivid Seats in order to make money, and any suggestion of the contrary is blatantly false. Despite the recent turn of events, we look forward finding an amicable compromise to this misunderstanding.
