Volt Marketing Brian Mayers Letter received by my mother-in-law with a check for $3988.76 claims to be the first payment before receiving her lump sum of $35,000. Hamilton, Ontario
My mother-in-law received the following letter from Volt Marketing Inc. with a check for $3988.76. It is almost word for word the same as one reported by someone else on this sight. The company name is different, and where this letter gives "Claims Agent Grace Wright" the other letter gave a different name. However, the phone number is the same, the "lucky winning number" is the same, and the claim number is the same first 5 characters with a different set of numbers for the second 5 characters.

At the bottom of the letter there are pictures of credit cards from Wal Mart, Visa, Master Card, Target, Home Depot, 7 Eleven, Sears, American Express, Discover, Gap, Pizza Hut, TJ Max
Below this is a statement:
HOURS: MONDAY TO FRIDAYT FROM 9AM TO 6PM
Again, the Phone number is the same as report number 585938 on this website. The name Brian Mayers is the same. The winning ticket number is the same, and the claim number is half the same.
If anyone has information on this particular scam, I would appreciate the details.

You have all the information you need to know..it is a SCAM.
But if you do want to know more. Basically they have you deposit the check. The bank is required to make the funds available in a couple of days. When that happens they have you send a Western Union Money Gram to some "agent". Unfortunatly in about 7-14 days the check you deposit comes back bad and are now on the hook for the amount.
Regardless of what names, addresses, phone numbers you are given. They are all false. If you were to really trace any information down you would find that the phone number is some pay-as-you-go cell phone. The address is either a vacant lot or a company that has nothing to do with this. The money actually ended up in Canada(or other foreign country).
Oh and you will NEVER see any prize money.
