We didn't pay the $2500 or $3500 that some folks paid for their dogs. We paid $1750 + $200 shipping, but our receipt says we only paid $1500 (IRS AGENTS: are you reading this???) By the way, we kept ALL paperwork, including cashier's check receipts and copies of the deposit check and shipping paperwork and we will be MORE than happy to supply copies of that paperwork to the proper government agencies and law enforcement officials to assist in any investigations. When I worked with K-9's in the military, we had a little saying: TSGB - Talk $hit, Get Bit! Looks like someone's getting chewed on!

I am glad you let your story be known more, people should take the time. May I ask what you paid for this limited AKC dog? Ms. Hiemenz is not a very pleasant person to deal with at least that was my experience with her. Good Luck.

Communications from both of the breeders involved have now pointed fingers at each other. KDM said Von Fenwald was supposed to honor the warranty and wasn't, Von Fenwald says KDM was supposed to honor the warranty and wasn't. I really don't care about who honors the warranty because I don't want another dog or a refund from either of them! Having seen enough Judge Judy (and done a bit of case history research), cases with warrantied animals usually end up with the animal in question being removed and replaced and then destroyed which is NOT what we want. We love our 1st GSD very much, it's just a shame we can't breed him because he is a handsome, very well mannered, and well behaved dog. This complaint was posted to shine a light on the practices of these two breeders. My wife and I were ripped off and we don't want other people to go through what we are going through. I cannot file a complaint against KDM Kennels, since I legally never dealt with them, which in the terms of use of this board would consist of a false complaint. Please judge the facts for yourselves. The point that KDM Kennels is being mentioned at all is to provide ALL the facts surrounding this complaint. For P in Colorado: Thanks for the advice! Will try to follow it.

Hello, I feel I need to respond to your comments that x-rays are worthless because a dog that is not dysplastic at a year can be at 8. I disagree, a lot of large breed dogs' skeletal structures are not finished growing at a year of age. That is why the only type of xray rating that you can get at that age is a premliminary rating. Preliminary ratings can change but the percentage of dogs that happens to is only around 6.2%. 93.8% of the dogs that receive a normal (fair, good, or excellent) rating at 1 year will receive a normal rating at 2 years. At 8 years of age, you are getting into the realm of old-age arthritis which is NOT dysplasia. Before you breed your new boy, have you considered getting the other recommended certifications for him? In addition to Hip Dysplasia, GSD's suffer from Elbow Dysplasia, OCD, several different heart ailments - most of which can kill, von Willebrand's Disease (vWD) - which can kill, and several eye ailments that can cause blindness. There is NO way for you to know if your new boy has these disorders just by looking at him. A veterinarian cannot tell you if your dog has these disorders simply by looking at him, unless he has been specially trained to do so, for example, a canine eye doctor or cardiologist. The best tool you have is the specific test for a specific disorder. Unless you take steps to ensure that your boy is as healthy as possible, you could be passing on some deadly and/or devastating disorders to his puppies and not even know it until someone comes back to you with it.
