This is one of the biggest lies that have ever been told to me. Back in November there was an ad in the Albany Herald for Armed Security Officers. This was a job that was going to pay $13.00 per hour (1st Lie), you would get 40 hours per week (2nd Lie), and was a long term contract (meaning two years) with the Cleint [Reed's Jewerly in the Albany Mall (THE BIG LIE)]. They need us in Atlanta for "State Mandated Training" that Sunday, now the interview was on a Wed. This gave us no time to prepare, but we did. There was to be two officers for each store (they had three in Georgia; Alabany, Columbus, and Brunswick). Me and another from Columbus was not working at the time so we did not quit a job, but the others did, with only 2 to 3 days notice.

So off to Atlanta we went. We get there and I should have seen this from the start. First, A Capt and the HR Manager meet us at the hotel. Nothing that was told to us in the interview was what was being told to us there. Instead of us being there only five days, we would be there until the next Sunday. Glad a brought my dress slacks, the other didn't, the dress code was not told to us. Classes would end at 6 pm insteas of 4 pm as told. So what do we do? deal with it.

The nice thing that was done, was The General Manager did take us out to a nice resturant to eat. He was a nice guy. So while we was eating and drinking, I asked him was this a full time deal and long term. He replied quote, "We have a contract with them (REED's) until Feb. 2009". We went on talking and he took us back to hotel. To our suprise, my partner room had been gone through and she was missing items. No one cared, Days Inn on Circle 75 Parkway or Wackenhut. She never got nowhere with nobody. The all said it was her fault, not if you think you your clothing and perfume is in you suitcase.

Well we went through the boring five days of classes. Then the two days of firearms training, back home. We was sent home, not with all the equipment we needed. Me for example, one pair of pants, two shirts, and etc. We was to recieve fives pairs each.

I went to post or in your words my job site, first thing that was said by the store manager, I didn't want ya'll here. Oh GOD, this is going to be fun, working for somebody who didn't want us there. She said we was bad for business and that nothing had never happen before why would it happen now. Hey seen the news lately shooting in public places. We was there to protect them. Then she said we wasn't going to be there long only thur the holidays, but don't say I said that. Oh goody!

I went a done my job, never left the store, stood on my feet in the same spot for hours at the time, for 16 to 18 hours a day. Then on Dec 22 I received a phone call from the firearms instructor (whom I had done some work for, grading test and shooting scores) that they (Wackenhut and Reed's) was ending the contract. It was really good thur the hoildays. What a crock of, well that is what I said. So I went into work on the 26th of Dec. called in as always, but this time to Major of us in Atlanta. This is what he said, "Yeah I was going to call you tonight and tell you that the contract was ending on Jan 2nd". Well I tried to be a right about this, nut when you screw people like this how can you?. You can't, so I called the wife, who agreed to leave. Also the store manager told me the same thing that morning. So I left, told her and him I was leaving. Can you believe they asked me why.

About three weeks, they (Operation and HR managers) called me asking why I left like I did. Believe me they heard a ear full. Then asked for their equipment back. As I told them send me box with paid shipment and I will send them to them. To this date they havn't sent a box, so I haven't sent them their stuff.

A person screwed by both

Have been working for 38 years. Being a security guard was the second worst job I ever had. I first being working at jack-in-the-box for $1.10 an hour when I was 13 years old. Low paid, poor working conditions, all were common as a security guard. Get some education and move on.
