I purchased a bicycle from my local Walmart in Palmdale California, only to find out it was defective. I returned the bike for an exchange and explicitly told the women what the problem with it was. I asked her if it was going back on the shelf as I had a feeling it had been returned prior due to there not being any phamplet with it when I bought it.

She told me, No Way, this will go back to the manufacturer.

So a couple days later I decide that the exchanged bike has some problems to, so down to Palmdale I go again to exchange it for a different brand.

Low and behold, there on the shelf is the bike that I had just returned. How did I know it was the same bike. Simple, I had pulled off one of the valve stem covers from the bike when I filled the tires with air, and unfortunately had scratched the bike on the brake lever ever so slightly. So there it was. The topper to this though is that they knew it was defective, the rims were bent, and thats why the tires were flat when I purchased it and I assumed that they just didnt fill them up when they put it together. Meanwhile they had let the air out of the tires again (you see when there was no air in the tires the wheels spin fine, but put in the recommended pressure, and the wheels lock up since they are bent), so that they would not appear bent.

Then a couple weeks ago, my room mate and I went to the walmart in Valencia, California where he purchased a bass tube for his car, got home and hooked it up, but it didnt work. He decided to take off the back hatch and see if a wire had come undone. Low and behold the wires were actually ripped out and tied in a knot inside. He returned it to Palmdale and got another one (which did work by the way), meanwhile on my trip back to them, there it was sitting on the shelf, you could see it was the same one he returned becuase of the way the box was taped up by the previous returnee.

This kind of stuff really just makes my blood boil. You return something and tell them it's defective and they would rather put it back on the shelf than go through the trouble to return it to their vendors.

i bought my oldest son a hot wheels car launcher from their clearance isle. box was damaged and retaped. asked csr on duty if i could return it if anything was wrong(i do like their normal return policy) answer was 'yes no problem',i asked again just to be sure-again'yes'---however, when my son came over, no instructions, no decals, no car, (i believe there was also more missing pieces, but not sure), but the worst part was the electric car launcher was broken! made LOTS of noise but thats it. took it back and was told 'no refunds on clearance' i could have accepted the missing car and decals and such, but they sold me a borken piece of crap and wouldn't do anything about it. it was my fault i bought a broken toy.
