I own a 2000 Toyota Echo and I thought purchasing new tires would be a easy task. Walmart was close to home so I decided to go with them even though they weren't the cheapest. Walmart is also who does my oil changes. After buying my tires a few days later I noticed that my steering wheel was shaking a bit and so I call the store and asked them they told me to bring my car in and they would check it out.

I brought my car in and they told me nothing was wrong with it. (Amazingly nothing was noted in the computer of this visit either) Another few days went by and I still felt it so I told my brother and he checked my air pressure in my tires and said it wasn't even and refilled them to the correct air pressure. A few more days went by and the tire pressure was off again and it seemed my front drivers side tire was loosing air.

I brought it to Walmarts attention and they told me it might be because my rim was bent or something so I had them check this out again. (Amazingly no documentation in the computer again of this?) I was given the report that nothing was wrong so I went on my way again. Owning a Toyota Echo and in my climent you only have to change your oil 5000 miles and I go by that rule since that is what my dealership told me and my Owners Manuel. I returned to Walmart for my oil change numerous times and told them to rotate my tires and apparently they did so.

Recently I went in and asked them to change my oil and rotate my tires (keep in mind I had 60,000 miles on my car and I bought tires less than 20,000 miles ago) they told me they couldn't rotate my tires. When asked why the manager who was running the register in the auto center told me to speak with the mechanic. I went into the shop and the mechanic brought over my tire, and pointed out steel showing on the inside. I asked him what that could be from he told me numerous things alignment, driving usage,etc..

I asked him well if my alignment was off how long would it take for a tire to become like that he said awhile. I asked how my other tires looked. He said like brand new. My response to him at that time was if I got my oil changed on a regular basis wouldn't there have been wear on the tires you all were supposed to be rotating? He couldn't answer. So I went back inside and spoke with the manager again and he told me that the protection plan I purchased on those tires did not cover mechanical defects on my car.

Then he proceeded to tell me that I didn't get my oil changed on a regular basis due to the computer shows every 5000 miles. I then informed him that if he ever read the Toyota Manuel he would know that Toyota's can go 5000 miles and the maxium you should go for non harsh weather climate is 7000 miles. I asked him if my alignment was off why didn't they tell me he stated that they do not do alignments and that its known fact that I should have gotten my car aligned after they put on tires. I asked him was this disclosed anywhere? Wasn't it there responsiblity to tell me this need to be done? I assumed it would have been done.

I looked on my reciept from Walmart and it wasn't on the back of there paper with all the other information. Nor was it on there that they didn't do alignments. He then told me he would give me my tire half off. I was satisfied with that at this point because I was tired and wanted to go home after already spending 4hrs in walmart waiting on my car. I went home and called around and decided to get my car aligned and see if that was the real problem.

The company I brought my car to stated to me that only one tire was off and it wasn't off that much to cause a tire to wear to that extent. So not only was I lied to by Walmart I just had to spend more money to get something checked out when that wasn't the real issue.

I called Walmart after returning home from the store who aligned my car and asked to speak to the manager who was so rude to me while I was there. He was unavailable at that time I was informed so I left a message asking for him to return my call. He has yet to call me back and I tried numerous times to contact them again. I have given up until i found this webpage and i want to make flyers and post them all around Walmarts.

I will never purchase tires or anything for my car from Walmart ever again. Nor have I ever recommended to anyone to buy tires from them I warn everyone what can happen and what has happened
