Wescom is in the practice of holding money charged on their Debit card in Pending then also take the acutal charge out of the account. So in essence if you made a 20 purchase you have a total of 40 out of your account.  They do this to get you "technically" over the amount you have available in your account then start to collect on 20 courtsy pay fee and 30 NFS fees.



To date I have been charged over 800 in both fees from Wescom, when I reported this first to Wescom, they informed me to stop using my card. The second time I asked for a manager and they informed me to keep better records. After I informed the manager to review my account BEFORE the fees where taken out, they would see that I acutally had more then enough to have made the charges, it was not until they held my charge amount in Pending and also cleared the very same charge, did I not have enough in my account.



Only twice have they reversed the charges, now they respond with that they can only reverse two fees per year, per customer, even though they are in the wrong.



At the present time I have been charged 110, they were able to collect this by doing the following:



In Pending they have listed:



Monte Carlo 150 (room fees held if I made charges on 9/29, released by Monte Carlo on 9/30, because there were no charges to the room made, Wescom states they have the right to still keep it pending until 10/3, even though Monte Carlo released the hold on 9/30)

Now in my bank account the following charges have been cleared and money taken out to pay the charges

Now anyone with some basic math can see that by holding money out of my account in Pending doubles the amount taken out of my account compared to what I acutal spent.  Now what Wescom has done, I made a 17 purchase, they hit me with 3 30NFS charges saying I do not have enough money for a 17 charge, when in fact I do, then they hit me with a 20 Courtsy Pay Fee for paying the 17, so that 17 purchase just cost me 127 dollars, 17 going to the vendor and 110 going into Wesoms pocket.



I called and got the normal, we follow policy we are allowed to do this and you should not make so many charges. When I asked for the Pending to be released, they stated they have the right to still keep things pending even though they already took the actual charge amount out of my account.



I filed a complaint with DFI, which I am sure will go nowhere, just like most governement run agencies.



Do not open an account with Wescom and save yourself tons of headaches and money.



Oh and another fun fact, for their "fraud protection" if you go on a trip out of state, you have to notifiy your branch 24-hours prior, if not this happened to me 3 times.



While on a trip my card was refused, for being refused I was charged 30 dollars... when I called to ask why they said they froze my account for my own personal protection. That left me without the ability to get a room for my family for the night because I had to wait until 9am Pacific time to call in to reactivate my own card.



When I informed them that I never asked for this, I was told they do it on their own and I have no right to stop, or way to stop such actions. Once they see a few charges out of the normal area you live they have the right to freeze your account, then you have to go through the verification process and wait a few hours for things to work.



On one trip it took 2 days, luckily the people at the hotel were nice enough to believe me and let us in a room until the matter was fixed. Wescom has ruined three family trips to date and all they give their customer is they have the right to do what they do.



Wescom is a joke and someone should sue for their practices.
