I have been trying to get a truck for about the last two years. I had a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport for a trade in. It was on a lease so it was hard to get out of. I had been to several places so I was used to the rejection.

I received a flyer in the mail from Westway Ford saying they could get me out of a lease, so I gave them a call. The man on the phone said to come on in and they would see what they could do. This was quite a long drive since I live in the west side of Fort Worth, but I wanted a truck pretty bad.

When I got there I talked to a sales man named Luis Colon. We went through all the usual haggling of prices, what I could afford, what I couldn't. After about 7 hours of the back and forth telling me I could have the truck then telling me I couldn't, we finally got to a price. $530.00 a month with no money down.

I talked to Sonny (can't remember his last name) in financing. He told me about GAP insurance for about 6 more dollars a month. I did want that so my payments were now $536.00. Which was high, but I really wanted the truck.

So all I needed to do now was get my wife in to sign her part of the paper work. Simple huh? Yeah Right! This is where all the garbage starts. I got my wife back in to sign and Sonny and Luis had left for the day. So someone else brought us some paper for my wife to sign, but it wasn't the contract that I had signed. So she signed and we left.

I talked to a friend at another car dealership and told her about the the paper. She hap no idea what it was. She said that my wife should have signed the same contract I did then we should have gotten a copy.

A few days later Westway called and said there was some problems with the paper work and that we needed to come back in and sign a new contract. So we went back out there for the third time.

When we got into Sonny's office he told us that our new payment would be $532.00. It's not much but every little bit helps. When we asked him why it went down, he said to keep it at that price they had to drop the GAP insurance and the extended warranty. Well I wanted those on, you never know what could happen. So the payment went up to $545.00 Ok this is alot more than I wanted to pay, but I really was in love with the truck now. And my wife knew how much it meant to me so everything was signed and we had our copy of the contract and the truck was mine. So I thought.

I received other call from Luis Colon the salesman. He told me that I needed to come back in to sign another contract. He said there were some errors on the current one. I asked him to tell me what the problem was, but he said he didn't know. By now I am starting to get mad and that is a very hard thing to do. I try to get ahold of Sonny in financing and all I get is his answering machine. So I leave multiple messages for him to call me.

Now I receive a call from Jim Irvin who says he is the sales manager and that I need to get a hold of him soon. So I try to call Jim and I can not get him on the phone. I call Luis back, he tells me he still doesn't know whats going on and that I need to come in.

I call my lawyer to find out what I need to do. He tells me that I have a signed contract, that the truck is mine and it's not my responciblity to go back out there. I also talked to my friend at the other dealership and she confermed that the contract was binding.

I called Sonny and left a message on his voice mail telling him what my lawyer said and left his name and number in case they needed to contact him. That night they came to where I work and repoed the truck. they left me stranded at work with no way to get home. I did get out there before they left to get my stuff out. But my main concern was getting the contract and my seizure medicine.

I took the copy of the contract to my lawyer so he could make sure everything was in order. He told me that he contacted Jim Irvin and while they were talking Jim Irvin hung up on him. So we are filing a complaint. And we will be talking to the Better Bussiness Bureau.

And to top it all off they even had someone to call my house and ask me how I was enjoying my truck. These are some sorry people, don't get suckered in by this place.

Hi Scott, I also live in fort worth and luckily have never had the experience you did, but my husband found an article on Edmunds.com the other day that absolutely said it all about car salesman. They assigned one of their reports to go undercover for 3 months as a car salesman and see how it really worked. I recommend this to everyone I know. Some of it, we all know, but some of it opened my eyes and my husband and I will definitely use the advice we found on our next car purchase. I hope it helps, at least the next time. Just wanted everyone to know that I finally had someone from the Ford Motor Company call me. I found out that they just bury their head in the sand and say there is nothing they can do about it. Wow, Is that costumer satisfaction or what? It seems like every where I go I hear how wrong Westway treated me. Then you finally get ahold of the big dog and think your getting somewhere and all you get is "We're sorry we can't help you" Well thanks for nothing! As far as I'm concerned they can take thier "Sorry" and stick it.

Scott I am a consumer advocate. I call myself "The Great Thorn" because I get great pleasure out of being the most wooden irritator of car dealer scum worldwide. Your Sucky Ford dealer put you in what is called a "Yank" deal. This is where the dealer will get you to sign almost anything just to take you off of the car buying market. No car dealer wants you to buy from some where else. So they put car buyers in what is called a "Yank" or a "Spot Delivery" When they feel they are going to have trouble getting a bank to pick up the paper. Whenever any car dealer's Lot Sharks or F&I clowns call up a car buyer and say "Hey Mr car buyer when can you come down and finalize your car deal, The Bank needs you to sign a few extra documents. You can bet they are just trying to pump more money out of you. Look at your new monthly payment, I am sure you now agree with me. Just think if you bought a home and signed all of the documents at closing and moved in, then a few days later the bank came over in the middle of the night and told you and your family to "Get the HELL OUT" we are not going to honor the contract. You would be upset and have every right to be. There would be big trouble if this kind of BS was going on in the realestate industry. But car dealers have deep pockets and they know that most consumers will do nothing when this kind of crap happens. Car dealers think they can do what ever they want and get away with it. Go tell these clowns below how you feel about car dealers. Tell them to help pass some new laws in your state that help PROTECT car buyers from car dealer deception. Here is a big list of people you shold make sure read your Rip Off Report. Let them know that most car dealers are SLIME and you are sick of them. Scott go email your congressmen and tell them all just how you feel about car dealer scams. Tell them to get off of their lazy buts and do something for once for the consumer. By the way, don't be too fast to try to contact any DemoCraps in your state, they all run from their responsibilities. Most all car dealer adds are full of loop holes that allow them to bend you over once you get to their dealership. Have you ever seen a big news story in any newspaper about a dirty deceptive car dealer? The answer is HELL NO, and you never will because newspapers love the big money they get from car dealers every week. Remember, even big radio celebrities across the country will say good things about car dealers because they are getting paid big money to do it. Look at Howard Stern, who claims to be the King Of all Media. He reads out little advertisements on his talk show all of the time about car dealers. I am sure that many of his listeners check out the car dealers he speaks of. My question is would he ever help a car buyer that is a victim of one of his advertisers. Would he ever talk to the car buying victim on his show and air it. It would be very cool for him to call up the car dealer and ask "Hey Mr car dealer why did you do this to one of my big fan's? What I am telling you is that most all around you are on the car dealer's side. That's why www.ripoffreport.com is so valuable to all consumers.

It could have been much worse. Read about City Mitsubishi, Jacksonville, FL. I beleive they wanted to do a bait and switch to get a higher interest rate out of you. Car dealers have been hit hard by 9/11 and use any means to get max profit using deceptive and unfair practices. REMEMBER NEXT TIME YOU SHOP FOR A CAR, MOST CAR DEALERS ARE TERRORISTS AND SCUM. They pulled a spot delivery.
