There is a lot of stuff going on at JB Hunt that is not right, and they are just good enough to be getting away with it.

I went through the training program at the Boise Idaho facility.I had driven truck in the 80,s and had worked in a factory for 17 years so prior experiance didn,t count. I went out with one trainer and was put in a truck with another when the frist trainer went home for time off. After my training miles were up I was assigned a used truck that seemed alright but the lights were never bright enough to do night driving. All the time on this frist truck they kept me running good except on holiday weekends and being new to the policies and procieders i had a few chalanges. Some areas of the country like Denver are hard to get good loads out from and not being used to haveing to wait for a load I got flustrated. After being a frist seat driver for two months I quit to try flatbed trucking to see if would like that any better and the oportunity to be home on weekends. I didn,t do well with that either. WSE went me a bill as agreed to at the end of the training school. I payed them what was owed and thay sent me a certificate of conplition. One day I stoped in at the school( in boise) at take care of some personal things with the instructor and He called Elm Springs and they offered me a driving job as a casuel driver.Mostly driveinf from Boise to tha west coast and some times to the Denver area.Once in awhile they would need a favor and I would go farther east. In the summer of 2008 they asked me to help out in the school and payed me by the hour. This only lasted a short time. Thay then tried to assing me a truck that iIdidn,t like. So thay gave me another truck that was nicer and said I would have to take longer loads. I don,t do well with out being with my wife, As an alcaholic with allmost five year sober. I felt that I might have a relaps. So when I was told to go from Portland to Seattle and pick up a load I drove ther truck back to the Boise yard. I was to imberast to let them know the truth about my self so I cleaned out the truck and went home without telling them. Now I don,t qualify for any benafits and my recored looks like I'm a job hopper and no other companys will let me drive for them. Although I made a mess of my life and work histroy I fill that I may still owe WSE if they lost money on my account. I'm sorry for the ungratful way that did them.Marvin of cadweld

its in the companies best financial interests to have a high driver turnover rate, cuts costs on raises, paid vocations, benefits, plus they all want to hire illegals to run the freight. it just doesnt make financial sense for any of these companies to keep drivers. thats not an opinion, that is a fact. the only possible argument you could have is retraining, thats what the argument for most jobs would be. 'the company does not want to spend the money hiring and training people'. but when the employees pay for their own training (trucking school) that just does not apply. we are paid very little for orientation where we learn also, very little.

Too often I have heard the excuse their racist. Or the dispatcher doesn't like me. Or the last company screwed me because. I have often said that companies are like X-wives. 1 bad company okay, 2 maybe, but three. Time to look in the mirror. It never ceases to amaze me the number of drivers that have 5-6-12 even 15 or more jobs in the last 3 years. But what amazes me even more is that we bother to hire them. Companies this large are set up to prevent any kind of discrimination, safe guards are in place here that prevent anyone from saying anything or doing anything that might possibly in some remote obscure crazy kind of way offend anyone. We all walk around on Eggshells scared to death that a small comment might offend someone because our HR department will swoop down like eagles to rip us from our posts. J B, I am proud to say does not play when it comes to any form of discrimination. Our dispatching system is set up completely separate from our FM's. Fr8 is assigned by a third party, the marketing group, who only look at Eta's - hours - and due home dates, distance from customers. Heck it's probably 80-90% automated. To try and say J B is prejudiced is like saying your toaster hates you because your french. It just doesn't make any sense.
