I purchased a used RV a couple months ago that was over priced and had major problems for its age. This RV was priced way too high to fool the public thinking they are getting a great deal when you offer half the offer price! Don't be fooled like me, do your homework, check the NADA price. I assumed since this was a large RV dealer and seemed to be honest, I fell for it. Priced at $29,900, I offered $18,000 and they took it.

After I drove it off the lot, it was mine and they had my money. The following day I took it out for a road test and the transmission fell apart after 15 miles of driving. The sales person discouraged me to test drive this RV, assuring me that it was road worthy. My fault for not insisting to test drive it.

When I brought it back (towed back) to them, they could only tell me too bad, you purchased it as is. Only getting 15 miles on it? Something stinks here! After many emails, phone calls and letters they did reimburse me $750 of the total cost of $2,600 for repairs. So, I over paid for the RV, had to pay for major repairs only days after my purchase. Also had to empty the black water tank which was full! Along with replacing temp and fuel gauge.

In addition, this RV was dangerous to drive. I later found a fuel leak that had to be repaired immediately and replace glow plug wires that were melted onto the exhaust manifold... right next to this fuel leak! Funny, Windish did reimburse me the full cost on this repair.

Other problems were - hot water tank had the wrong size plug; one was through into the compartment just to look good. Sky light was cracked and had to be replaced. However, it is used and I figured Windish just sells used RVs in poor condition.

The rip off here is paying a high price on a RV that I assumed was in good shape. The transmission failure and the fuel leak are items that should have been brought to my attention and the RV price accordingly. Again, my fault for not checking this price out or having the RV fully checked by a mechanic.

Do your homework prior to purchasing anything from Windish RV Center. Also, do NOT believe anything the sales person tells you, specially the Sales Manager. They are high pressure used car "slam dunk" sales people who only want your money. Avoid if you can; do your homework if not. They only want your money!

Before I write public complaints regarding a Keystone Avalanche purchased new from Windish RV and the service received, I'll give president an opportunity to contact me first.

I recently pulled the trigger on a new TT at Windish RV in Lakewood, CO. The entire buying cycle was 2 months. I took some time off to research the TT I was interested in and not once did the salesperson harrass me or pressure me into making the deal sooner... I've had the opportunity to work directly with a lot of members of the Windish RV team and everyone there in my opinion is classy and dedicated to complete customer service, some people however, are never satisfied. If you have a problem with them, give Windish a chance to make it right, I know they will. When you're a dealer of that size, you can't make everyone happy but from what I saw, there were a lot of happy customers int he lobby running around.

Yesterday I made my purchase and I am confident it was a great one. They beat the price of any other dealer in the United States which I shopped this particular TT around to. It's nice to know we have a TT dealer in town that will stand behind their products and give great prices.

Thanks Windish -- I'm a happy customer!

Thanks for the rebuttal, however, I wasn't satisfied with the help Windish offered and I did write to them telling them this. If they were so helpful with my situation then why did it take multiple inquiries to get a response and that I had to write to the President of the company to get any action? Yes I purchased it "as is" and yes I DID NOT do my homework. I relied on the sales person statement that it was in good working order! I am the fool to believe him! The main point of all this is, if you purchase a RV from Windish, DO YOUR HOMEWORK! The sales people will not tell you the truth! The RVs are way over priced for their condition. I paid $18,000 for this lemon and I'm still working on it since I purchased it last fall. After the fact I've seen RVs of this model, in better condition go for $5,000 less than what I paid for this one. I've purchased two RVs in the past from individuals and in both cases there were items to be fixed but not to the extent this one has! The price I paid was very high for the condition. I did express my dissatisfaction with Windish. Don't let them tell you otherwise. They are a Dealership to sell high-end RVs at a high-end price. Think of it this way.. why would they sell a used RV that was listed for $29,000 and the waste water tank (black water) was full? Why did it have a fuel leak? Why did the transmission fall apart only after 15 miles!! Why is it riddled with electrical problems? Just do your homework, pay a good mechanic to go over the RV before paying any money and don't take any advice from the sales people, they lie! Most of all take it for a test drive no matter what the sales person tells you!!! I am upset with myself for believing anything the sales person and sales manager told me and with Windish for selling an RV in such poor shape at an inflated price.

I was very surprised to see Bruce's letter complaining about Windish RV on the RIP-OFF report. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to answer his allegations. Bruce did purchase a used Class A diesel motorhome from Windish in Sept 2006. He made an offer on the vehicle much lower than the price we had it listed for. We accepted the offer based on the fact that he take it "as is." This was clearly stated to him and even put into writing. The original listed price for the motorhome included taking it thtough out shop for a total recon and systems check. Bruce wanted the unit but did not want to pay for this service. We never told him that he couldn't drive the vehicle before he bought it. We encourage evveryone to take a test drive before purchase. Around Sept 20th, I received the first letter from Bruce regarding repairs he had to have done on his vehicle. He asked that we split a $2590 bill from AAMCO. I called him immediately and told him that even though he bought the unit as is I would help him out with this bill by sending him $750, which I did on Sept 21st. (I never even received a copy of the repair bill) Bruce thanked me and said he was happy with that. On Oct 25th, I got another letter from Bruce stating that he had to spend $233 on a fuel leak (repair bill was attached). He also ssid the coach was not clean when he picked it up. I called him and immediately cut him a check for the $233 on Oct 27th. I sent a note along with the check saying I was doing this for customer good will and I also offered him a free full detail on his coach only asking that he give us 4 days lead time for the detail department. At no time did I ever hear any negative feedback from him that he was not happy. Windish RV takes pride in the fact that we try to work with any customer that has a problem after the purchase of one of our vehicles. We promply answer any communications and work towards a resolution. As laid out above, Bruce's communications to me were answered promptly, a resolution proposed and accepted; which we believed was to Bruce's satisfaction!
